What are the three C's of courage? ›

We are all innately curious, compassionate, and courageous, but we must cultivate these values — the 3Cs — as daily habits to foster the independent thinking, free expression, and constructive communication that will enable our society to reach its full potential.

The three types of empathy that psychologists have defined are: Cognitive, Emotional, and Compassionate. As an aside, it's worth noting that empathy is a relatively new idea and is still being defined by social and cognitive psychologists.

I love Bill O'Hanlon's definition of spirituality in his book “Pathways to Spirituality”. He defines it as the three C's: Connection to something greater than yourself, Compassion or “feeling with” ourselves, others and the world and Contribution, or service to others and the world.
