Why is Stitch Fix struggling? ›

Stitch Fix has seen encouraging early signs of recovery following significant challenges. Despite declining active clients and net revenue, the company has reported promising financial results in the most recent quarter, with improved gross margins and EPS. However, the turnaround is still in its early stages.

Try before you buy

Your Stylist will send you 5 pieces in each Fix, but you'll only pay for what you keep. There's a $20 styling fee per Fix order, which is then credited to those pieces you keep. Love it all? Get a 25% discount when you keep everything in your Fix.

You do not get compensation and although clients pay a styling fee, the stylist does not receive that fee, it goes to the company and you get paid hourly. The typical Stitch Fix Stylist makes $16 per hour. Stylist hourly pay at Stitch Fix can range from $14 - $18.

Upon opening a Stitch Fix account, you'll be charged a $20 styling fee, which is credited toward any pieces you keep. The $20 fee applies to every Fix, but so does the credit. As long as you plan on keeping at least one item from each box, the service is essentially free. In that way, Stitch Fix is definitely worth it.

Although Stitch Fix is losing money, its balance sheet shows that it still has plenty of room to run.

Shares of Stitch Fix have fallen 27% over the last 12 months and 97% from their record close of $106.41 hit on Jan. 27, 2021. The stock, once a pandemic darling, has struggled as the company has seen a decline in clients and sales since 2021.
