If you're the owner of an Microsoft 365 Family subscription, you may decide to stop sharing your subscription with someone. And if you're the one using a shared Microsoft 365 Family subscription, you may no longer need it, or you may be notified that the owner has stopped sharing it with you. This topic explains how this all works, including what happens after someone stops sharing an subscription.

Sign in to your and choose Sharing.

If you don't see the Sharing tab, you may not be the owner of the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.

You also may not have aMicrosoft 365 Family subscription. Check the product name on your . Microsoft 365 Personal and Microsoft 365 Personal don't include subscription sharing.

On the Sharing page, in the Other people section, find the person you want to remove, and choose Stop sharing.

After you confirm that you want to stop sharing with them, we’ll send them an email letting them know.

Sign in to your Microsoft account, Sharing page.

In the Subscription sharing section, choose Stop using this shared subscription.

In the confirmation dialog box, choose Leave.
If you want to continue using Microsoft 365, you can buy an Office subscription. Or, if you need a fast, free way to create or edit Microsoft 365 files, you can use Office Online.
What happens when you stop using a shared Microsoft 365 Family subscription?
You lose the Microsoft 365 Familysubscription benefits:

You’ll still be able to view and print your Microsoft 365 files, but you won’t be able to edit them or to create new ones. You'll see Unlicensed Product notifications when you use Microsoft 365.

You’ll still be able to use Microsoft 365 on your iPad, Android tablet, and smartphone, but you won’t be able to access premium Microsoft 365 features.

You’ll lose your 1 TB of free OneDrive storage.

If you’ve used any of that OneDrive storage, don’t worry: You can still access your files, but you won’t be able to edit them in OneDrive or to upload new files. To fix this, you can save some of your files elsewhere or buy more storage. For more information, go to OneDrive.com, sign in to your account, and choose Get more storage.

You'll lose your 60 Skype minutes per month.
