If you are experiencing slow file access while using OneDrive off‑campus, you can download the files to your device so you can access them more quickly—even when you are offline.
- Open File Explorer (to access File Explorer, type File Explorer into your Windows search box, and then click the search result, or click the File Explorer shortcut on the taskbar).
- In File Explorer, click OneDrive – Red River College in the left‑hand pane, and review the sync state of your file or folder in the Status column.
NOTE: The green tick icons in the image below indicate a OneDrive locally available file. For more information about the different OneDrive icons, please visit Microsoft’s What do the OneDrive icons mean webpage.
- To download a OneDrive file or folder so it is always available on your device, right‑click the file, and select Always keep on this device.
NOTE: Downloading files will use storage space on your device, but they will always be available—even when you are offline.
- Ensure the file you selected in Step3 has a solid green circle with a white check mark in the Status column—this indicates that it is always available on your device.
NOTE: You can change the sync state of your files and folders to the other status options at any time.
