If you are experiencing slow file access while using OneDrive off‑campus, you can download the files to your device so you can access them more quickly—even when you are offline.

  1. Open File Explorer (to access File Explorer, type File Explorer into your Windows search box, and then click the search result, or click the File Explorer shortcut on the taskbar).

  2. In File Explorer, click OneDrive – Red River College in the left‑hand pane, and review the sync state of your file or folder in the Status column.

    NOTE: The green tick icons in the image below indicate a OneDrive locally available file. For more information about the different OneDrive icons, please visit Microsoft’s What do the OneDrive icons mean webpage.

  3. To download a OneDrive file or folder so it is always available on your device, right‑click the file, and select Always keep on this device.

    NOTE: Downloading files will use storage space on your device, but they will always be available—even when you are offline.

  4. Ensure the file you selected in Step3 has a solid green circle with a white check mark in the Status column—this indicates that it is always available on your device.

    NOTE: You can change the sync state of your files and folders to the other status options at any time.
