How do you switch between noise control modes on AirPods? ›

Press and hold the force sensor on the stem of an AirPod until a chime plays. When you're wearing both AirPods, press and hold the force sensor on either AirPod to switch between Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and Off. With AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you can also switch to Adaptive Audio.

Noise Cancellation: Blocks out external noise to help you focus. Transparency: Lets you hear the sounds around you. Off: Turns off all noise control modes.

Make sure that you have the latest software on your connected iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Put both AirPods Pro in your ears and check that Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is turned on. Check whether Adaptive Audio is enabled. Adaptive Audio adjusts noise-control settings based on your surroundings.
