Hi there!
For about 3 months, my tap to pay feature in Apple Pay has not been working. I am still able to use Apple Pay with the double click for online purchases so I know the actual CC info is correct and working and that nothing is wrong with my Apple Pay account. I even tried removing my cc info and re-entering, but the tap to pay feature is still not working. I've tried in 5-6 different retail stores. Any advice or suggestions?

Hi there, thanks for the reply. The double click feature on the sleep button when buying something online from my phone is fully functional. What is not working is tapping my phone to a terminal at a retail store (doing the steps you outlined) It’s not picking up or recognizing the phone at all. Hope that clarifies

- Apple Pay in store issueHi, I’m having an issue with Apple Pay when I’m trying to use it in store on my iPhone 7 Plus. I follow all the correct procedures as in I either double press home button when locked and keep my thumb on Touch ID or enter wallet and try from in there. When I move my phone next to card machine in stores that I know accept Apple Pay, literally nothing happens. No move closer instruction it just sits there and does nothing or says nothing. 8191

Same with me. My Apple Card still works online but my tap pay doesn’t. The card will open, I tap to pay, and the message on the store credit card machine says “unsupported card” after I tap it. So I use a non-Apple card to tap pay and it works fine. This is happening at stores I go to regularly where it has worked fine for years. Very annoying and I hope they figure it out soon. I didn’t notice when it started happening but probably around the new year. I have an iPhone 12 Pro and the current iOS I have is 16.3. No other updates are available yet

Same issue here. The apple card in the apple wallet doesn't seems to send the info to the nfc reader at numerous POS systems where i have used it before until about two weeks ago. Other credit cards like amex and discover work fine on the same POS where i normally use it thorough the apple wallet. The apple card does pop up on the phone screen, i authorize it by the sleep button, face id works, but then the POS reports an error msg to the effect of "card error" ...not a authorized or approved msg as i would normally would expect.

This is happening to me too! Stopped working on the same date! Works with different cards but not apple. Support just told me to try the charge again because they see no denied charges on their end. Frustrating

The software issue with Apple Card is the expiration date. Remove the card from your Wallet, restart your iPhone, and then add the card back to your Wallet. This updates the card to the correct format.

I had the same issue when i was on vacation in Venice. Double tap paying stopped on 18/03/24 I have updated my ios, signed out and then signed in again, restarted my phone, and deleted the card and installed again. For online purchases everything is fine but double tap option still not working for almost 12 days. I can see the ✔️ but on pos machine it is rejected and apple pay says it is rejected.

Same issue happening with Tap to Pay with Apple Card specifically. Other cards in Apple Wallet work correctly, thus it’s not an NFC issue. I spoke to Apple support, they transferred to Goldman Sachs support, they stated it’s a known issue with Goldman Sachs Apple Card tap to pay. They said physical card and virtual pay ARE working.
I’m on an iPhone SE II running iOS 17.2.1.
Not sure when it started having this issue, but it’s been at least a week, possibly early January 2024.

Sounds like you have a hardware issue. Please call Apple Support at 1-800-MY-APPLE and request they do remote diagnostics. Please mention to the support team member that you are have issues with NFC (Apple Pay) and your GPS.

Have you removed your Apple Card MasterCard and then added it back? This updates the expiration date and has worked for many people.

Apparently Express mode is on by default. A few weeks ago I took a NYC subway, swiped my senior metrocard and boarded. But the turnstile also read my Apple Pay and charged it for a full fare trip.

The post/comment you’re responding to is almost 3 months old. As you stated we’ve learned a lot since then. There is a fix for the issue for most people. If you remove Apple Card from your Wallet app and also your Apple ID Account, restart the iPhone and then add it back, it then works for the vast majority of users experiencing this issue. Of course your experience could be different.
