How do I delete a digital certificate? ›

Press Windows Key + R Key together, type certmgr. msc, and hit enter. You will get a new window with the list of Certificates installed on your computer. Locate the certificate you want to delete and then click on the Action button then, click on Delete.

To remove a certificate in Google Chrome, go to the "Customize and control Google Chrome" menu at the end of the address bar and select "Settings." Click on "Advanced Settings" to load the rest of the options. In the "Privacy and security" section, click on "Manage certificates."

If a certificate has been set as the default certificate, it cannot be deleted. To delete this certificate, set another certificate as the default certificate first.

If necessary, you can request the revocation (cancellation) of your certificate from the certificate issuing entity or from the Administration or Delegation. Once revoked (annulled), a new certificate must be requested by repeating all the steps required to obtain it.

Remove digital signatures from Word or Excel

Open the document or worksheet that contains the visible signature you want to remove. Right-click the signature line, and select Remove Signature.

Tap on the three dots at the top-right corner, and click Edit PDF. Adobe Reader lets users remove digital signatures on Android and iOS devices. Tap on the signature, and then click Delete. In Adobe Reader for mobile devices, tap on a signature to select it for deletion.

You also don't need to revoke old certificates, unless you have some knowledge that an unauthorized person had access to their private keys.

In the left pane of the Active Directory Sites and Services MMC snap-in, select the Certification Authorities node. In the right pane, right-click the CertificationAuthority object for your CA, select Delete, and then select Yes.

Locate and right-click on the certificate you wish to remove. Click on Properties and then in the General tab, click on Disable all purposes for this certificate in the Certificate purposes section. Hit Apply and restart your server to complete the removal process.

From Administrative Tools, open the Certification Authority console. In the details pane, find the certificate you need to revoke, right-click the certificate, point to All Tasks, and click Revoke Certificate.
