Apex Legends is one of the most popular battle royales on the market, but it’s also one of the most unique. Between its colorful and diverse cast of characters, its range of weapons, an emphasis on character abilities and movements, it can be difficult to master every aspect of the game. If you’re new to Apex Legends, the first thing you need to do is just play and give yourself time to adapt to and learn the basics. While doing so, here are some of the Legends that you’ll take to quickly as a Beginner.
Gibraltar
If you’re new to Apex Legends you can’t go wrong with Gibraltar, one of the OG Legends in the game. His kit is pretty clear cut and easy to use but there’s also room to really grow and a nuance to how to properly utilize him. He’s one of the few Legends in the game that can revive a teammate more quickly and his Dome Shield tactical ability can be very useful. Just don’t use it in a panic whenever you get shot at, it should be saved for more dangerous moments like an incoming ultimate ability, or if you have to revive or pass over large open grounds with no cover.
The most vital thing you’ll want to learn as a Gibraltar is how to ‘bubble dance’. That’s when you toss your Dome Shield when enemies are right on you and you weave in and out of the bubble shooting them. At close range, this can be done most effectively with a shotgun. It’s not as easy as it sounds and will take some practice.
Finally, what makes Gibraltar such a great pick for beginners in Apex Legends is that he’s just a really hardy guy. He’s one of the few big characters that has the Fortified passive ability, so he takes less damage from body and leg shots. He’s also got a Gun Arm Shield, so if you’re aiming down sights you get extra protection against body shots.
Lifeline
In Apex Legends, Lifeline was the original support Legend. For a while she was also the only support Legend. So she was a clear choice and go-to for a lot of beginners joining Apex Legends for the first time. She’s still to this day a solid choice if you’re a passive player who doesn’t like being the first one in the door.
As a Lifeline, you should look to be the one who backs up your teammates. Provide covering firing, let them push in on teams first while you hang back in case anyone goes down too early. Lifeline has the special ability to revive teammates without needing to actually crouch down and revive them. So always be looking to tap your revive button once a downed enemy is in cover, then return to cover firing in case the enemy team is pushing up on you.
Her ultimate ability, the Care Package also has a useful perk called Smart Loot. The game will look at the gear and attachments of you and your party and will always give you upgrades when you call the Care Package down. It’s important to always get blue evo armor as quickly as you can so you can call down a Care Package with gold or purple upgrades.
Bangalore
Bangalore is one of the original Legends and is a great pick for veterans and beginners alike in Apex Legends. She’s referred to as an entry fragger, so she’s great at moving in first to initiate fights and get the first pick even if she goes down. But she’s also able to play very defensively as well.
Her three strengths are her tactical ability to smoke, her passive ability that gives her a speed boost and her ultimate ability, Creeping Barrage. The smoke is perfect for a number of reasons, hiding your movement, forcing enemies to reposition if they want to keep attacking or just causing general chaos in a close quarters team fight. Just be aware, some Legends like Seer or Bloodhound can negate it with their scans. And if an enemy has a Digital Threat sight, they can see through it as well.
Bangalore’s passive ability will give her a slight speed boost if a bullet hits or lands near her. As you get better at the movement aspect of the game, this will start to become a very useful ability to utilize as it helps you get to cover quickly and reposition on your enemy.
Finally her ultimate Creeping Barrage is often misused as an offensive ability and it can certainly be used that way. But because it has a delayed explosion, it can usually be avoided if used in an offensive way. Instead try to keep it for when you know a team might push, or if you need to push a team out of cover. You basically want to save it for when you know a team wants to try and move through it, so they can’t avoid it and take all the damage.
Wraith
Just like Bangalore, Wraith is a pick that players of all skill levels love in Apex Legends. She’s not a very complex pick to learn, so as a beginner you can focus on your movement and gunplay. That isn’t to say that her abilities aren’t important as she is one of the original skirmisher characters that a lot of pros still use today.
Wraith’s tactical ability allows her to phase out and become invulnerable so she can run away to try and heal. But be aware, you can’t open doors when you do this and you also leave a blue trail that enemies could follow. Her ultimate ability creates a portal tunnel that allows for quick getaways, or for you to get your team into the enemy backline swiftly. But it can also be used by the enemies as well. There are a lot of applications and plenty of time to learn how to properly use her on your grind to become an Apex Master.
Loba
If you’re looking to unlock a different Legend from the originals,Loba is a fantastic pick for beginner’s that will benefit any team you’re on. She was the second support Legend to be added to Apex Legends, but she does it in a different way from Lifeline. Loba’s support is all about kitting out your team as quickly as possible.
Her biggest strength is in her fast charging ultimate ability, Black Market. When you set it down it gives you access to all the loot within a certain radius. You can pull out unlimited amounts of ammo (so long as it’s available) and up to two of any other items. If you grab any consumables like syringes or shield batteries, you’ll get two of each if they’re there.
It does make a big flash sound and effect, so it’ll let nearby enemies know where you are. But there’s nothing like going into an early fight with your best weapons while some other team is stuck with P2020’s and uncharged Rampages.
Fuse
Ol’ Fusey is a great and fun pick regardless of how long you’ve been playing Apex Legends. One of the best things about him that veterans and beginners alike can enjoy is that his passive ability allows you to carry two grenades per slot. His tactical ability, Knuckle Cluster, is a sticky grenade that keeps popping and exploding wherever you land it. He’s one of the few that can actually deal consistent damage with his tactical ability.
There’s just nothing quite as fun as knowing you have an enemy team locked down somewhere and being able to pelt them with grenade after grenade. Fuse can also launch grenades further than any other legend in the game.
If you’re really serious about getting good with Fuse, learn to run some weapons that have lower ammo capacity like Snipers and Shotguns. The less ammo you need, the more room you have for grenades and you can become a proper nuisance for everyone else in the lobby.
