The Mandalorian season 3 has already shown how far both Din Djarin and Grogu have come since the series began. While the little guy’s powers have always been intriguing in the past, it’s only now that viewers are starting to see how strong the force really is in Baby Yoda.
After all, the mystery surrounding Master Yoda and Grogu’s species is a big part of why The Mandalorian has resonated with Star Wars fans from the get-go. The Book of Boba Fett added to that intrigue with a glimpse of Grogu’s brief training arc under Luke Skywalker. Having said that, season 3 is proving that Grogu is more than able to take care of himself, so it’s worth summing up all his feats of strength in The Mandalorian so far.

Force Telekinesis
This was Grogu’s first big moment, crucial to building the now-unbreakable bond between him and Din. In this memorable scene, the seemingly defenseless child used his powers to save The Mandalorian from certain death by lifting a massive mudhorn. Psychokinetic powers are standard for all Force users, yet what made this scene impressive was how Grogu managed to stop and lift a charging monster of this size despite being rusty from whatever training he’d had until then.
With telekinesis being one of the go-to Jedi abilities, Grogu has used it several times since then, including when he tried to curb his famous hunger pangs with frogs in The Book of Boba Fett, or to pick up some snacks in Greef Karga’s office. In season 3 episode 2, Grogu used his powers to blast away an incoming alamite.
Force Healing
The force’s curative powers have not been featured in the Skywalker Saga’s movies, but they are well documented in other pieces of Star Wars history. Most notably, Anakin Skywalker used it to revive Ahsoka Tano in Clone Wars by relying on the dying Daughter force avatar.
In The Mandalorian’s season 1, chapter 7, Grogu cures Greef Karga’s injury, healing what would otherwise be a deadly wound, which explains why the High Magistrate of Navarro is fond of this little kid. Grogu's healing abilities could be put to test in the future to help his surrogate father.
Force Choking
Using Force powers is often a torture method associated with the Sith and other Dark Side figures, not the Jedi. Yet there are some instances when the latter have resorted to this. Anakin (granted, bad example), Luke, and Ahsoka have all choked enemies at certain points. However, it’s a tactic they usually use when they’re desperate, so it’s clear that this is frowned upon by the Jedi.
Grogu’s first victim was Cara Dune, who was almost killed by the infant while having an arm wrestling match with Din Djarin. Later in season 2, Grogu uses the technique on a couple of Stormtroopers, much to Moff Gideon’s satisfaction.
Force Barrier
This is another ability not featured in Star Wars movies, though pretty common among both sides of the force. Force barriers shields are staples in video games like The Force Unleashed for offensive and defensive purposes, and Grogu put his to great use in the series.
In season 2’s “The Tragedy,” before he’s kidnapped by Moff Gideon’s Dark Troopers, Grogu puts up an unbreakable force shield that ensures he can send out the message Luke ends up getting. As usual, he passes out from exhaustion shortly after. Nevertheless, this was one of The Mandalorian’s most impressive and tense action sequences to date.
Force Stealth
There’s a reason why Grogu managed to stay alive and hidden for so long after Anakin’s siege on Order 66: his ability to shut off his force presence for years. This technique is what originally allowed Yoda to retreat back Dagobah’s swamps, and how Palpatine hid in plain sight from the Jedi before Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Force Telepathy
Baby Yoda can’t speak, at least not by traditional means, but when he meets one of his own kind in Ahsoka he is able to open up about his past and even finally share his name. In The Book of Boba Fett, he clearly has a way of communicating with Luke, so this power won’t come into again play unless he meets another force user.
Force Taming
Another trick pulled mostly from Clone Wars and Rebels, users of Force taming include Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ezra Bridger, with the latter using it to communicate with those space whales from The Mandalorian's season 3 premiere (purrgil). This one is exclusive to the light side of the Force, with Grogu using it in The Book of Boba Fett to tame the mighty rancor Tatooine’s new boss adopted.
Agility
When The Mandalorian started, Grogu was mostly confined to his hover-pram as a means of transportation, usually moving quite clumsily on his own. In The Book of Boba Fett, Luke's training drills worked to great effect so that now Grogu can jump around acrobatically just like Yoda did at the ripe age of 877, even being able to levitate for a bit. Grogu's reflexes and movement will only get better as time passes. Once this youngling hits puberty, Baby Yoda should be as hard to hit as the most powerful Jedi out there.
