Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max content Casey Bloys has addressed the possibility of The White Lotus season 4 and beyond, explaining what he sees for the future of the anthology series. The series focuses on different stories set within White Lotus locations, a fictional chain of international resorts where new groups of characters have wild experiences in every new season. The White Lotus season 3 is currently in production, setting its story in Thailand with a release window of 2025.
Speaking with Variety, Bloys revealed that he hopes for The White Lotus to continue into season 4 and beyond thanks to its success. The CEO also revealed series creator Mike White has a multitude of ideas for the anthology series, meaning there could be many more seasons for years to come. Check out what Bloys had to say below:
I know Mike has a lot of ideas for where it could go. We’re lucky to be in business with him. And we have actors who now really, really want to be on the show because it’s a great opportunity and it’s great writing. So I think as long as he wants to do it, we’ll go along for the ride. He’s really built a very interesting model to go from different parts of the world and have a rotating cast.
How Many Seasons Could The White Lotus Have?
Originally billed as a miniseries, season 2 established the show as an anthology, bringing new characters and a new location to the forefront while telling a new, unique story. The same is going to be true for its follow-up, with The White Lotus season 3's cast being entirely different, save for Natasha Rothwell's return as Belinda from season 1. While every season is set in the same universe as one another, White's different ideas for how every new entry plays out means the show could continue much further than the upcoming installment.
Since season 4 is already on the table as a real possibility, it wouldn't be surprising if the series were renewed soon after season 3 aired. The series has managed to be a major success for HBO since first airing in 2021, something that will likely continue once the next batch of episodes comes out. If the show's creator already has multiple ideas on where the series can go next, then a whole host of new stories could be made in the coming years.
