Every vacation should be about finding a little peace and plenty of relaxation. However, not all destinations are created equal when it comes to unwinding. So, to help you maximize your R&R, Casago, a vacation rental property management company, dug deep into Tripadvisor data to reveal the most relaxing places in America.
To figure out which tourism spots can be deemed the most relaxing in the nation, the team first built a seed list of all 50 states and a list of the 20 most famous cities in America. It then parsed through Tripadvisor reviews to find out how many times the word "peaceful" was mentioned in the major attractions in each state, along with recording how many times the word was used in reviews of the 20 cities.
The Casago research team then went to each attraction's specific page and collected metrics on the location, attraction category, and number of reviews written in English. It excluded certain categories from contention to keep things fair, including spas and horse-drawn carriage rides.
Then, it took all that data and ranked the attractions for every state, city, and the top 10 U.S. overall based on the number of "peaceful" mentions per 1,000 English reviews. After all that hard work, the team found that the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in St. Augustine, Florida, is the nation's most peaceful tourism destination, with a whopping 41 percent of reviews using the word "peaceful."
Round out the top 5 are Sholom Park in Ocala, Florida; Idaho Falls Temple & Visitor Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho; National Shrine of St. Therese in Juneau, Alaska; and Byodo-In Temple in Kaneohe, Hawaii. For the complete list, visit casago.com.
