Timor-Leste Accedes to the SEANWFZ Treaty
Let's dive into the world of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)! It all began on August 8, 1967, in Bangkok, Thailand. The ASEAN Declaration, also known as the Bangkok Declaration, marked the official founding by the 'Founding Fathers': Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
Brunei Darussalam joined the ranks on January 7, 1984. Then came Viet Nam on July 28, 1995, followed by Lao PDR and Myanmar on July 23, 1997, and Cambodia on April 30, 1999. Today, ASEAN proudly encompasses ten Member States.

OUR COMMUNITIES
In 2009, leaders set the roadmap for the ASEAN Community (2009-2015). This community, built on three key pillars—Political-Security, Economic, and Socio-Cultural—was officially launched in 2015. Also in 2015, the 'ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together' was introduced as a Post-2015 Vision. This vision encompasses the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, along with blueprints for the Political-Security, Economic, and Socio-Cultural communities, all geared towards future progress.
