Our top 10 Trixter songs list presents the music of one of the most renowned glam metal acts of the early ’90s. The band was formed in 1983 using the moniker Rade in its first years after inception. Doug “Dougie C.” Cowie and Steve Brown are credited as the band’s founders. The two added vocalist Pete Loran and drummer Mike Pane to its original lineup. After one concert, the band lineup changed its name from Rade to Trixter.
Trixter started gaining a cult following after several live performances. The band played music at a sold-out arena alongside acts such as Skid Row and Kix. Trixter started attracting the attention of major record labels. The band’s first recording was handled by Nelson Ayers. Nelson was initially involved in the recording ofAppetite for Destruction(1987) by Guns N’ Roses.
Unfortunately, the band never released its debut album. A few changes happened in the band’s lineup, this time being the departure of original member Cowie in 1988. The band landed a recording contract with Mechanic/MCA Records in 1989. Eventually, the band started working on the release of its debut album.Trixter(1990) was finally out, featuring some tracks from the 1988 recording session.
The album blended the glam metal and hard rock elements.Trixter(1990) managed to rise to the twenty-eighth position on the Billboard 200. This remains the band’s best performance on the Billboard 200. Some of the musical gems from this Gold-certified album include “Surrender,” “One in a Million,” and “Give It to Me Good.”
Trixter hit the road for a nationwide tour opening/performing alongside artists and acts such as Stryper, Don Dokken, Poison, Scorpions, Warrant, and Firehouse. The band later released its sophomore albumHear!(1992). Unfortunately, the album failed to match the success levels of the band’s debut album.Hear!(1992) managed to rise to the one hundred and ninth position on the Billboard 200. This marked the band’s last album to feature on the Billboard 200.
MCA Records decided to drop Trixter after the band’s sophomore album failed to match the success of the debut album. Later, the band managed to sign a contract with the indie record label Backstreet Records. Under Backstreet Records, Trixter releasedUndercovers(1994). The album featured cover songs of music by several artists, including Nine Inch Nails, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Beastie Boys, Supertramp, AC/DC, and Elvis Costello.
Trixter disbanded in 1995 only to come together in December 2007. Their reunion was marked by a nationwide tour in 2008. In 2009, the band released a compilation album under the titleBest of Trixter.Eventually, Trixter signed a recording deal with Frontiers Records, where the band releasedNew Audio Machine(2012) andHuman Era(2015). # 10 – Walk With a Stranger
Opening our top 10 Trixter songs is the ravishing hit “Walk With a Stranger.” The song is a cover to the unreleased song by Skid Row going under the same title. Initially, Dave Sabo and Rachel Bolan penned the lyrics to this song for Skid Row’s demo. However, the track was not among the demo songs used for the band’s eponymous debut album. Trixter featured its “Walk With a Stranger” version onNew Audio Machine(2012).
# 9 – Rockin’ Horse
“Rockin’ Horse” is an energetic metal ballad whose vivacity proves the song to be among the band’s show stoppers. The song is featured on Trixter’s sophomore albumHear!(1992). “Rockin’ Horse” is a seductive ode that finds the singer taking pleasure from another man’s lady. While the lady seems to have initiated contact with the singer, he can’t help his lustful thirst.
# 8 – Human Era

Most of the best Trixter songs are majorly heavy and hard. However, “On and On” feels more like a melodic rock ballad. # 5 – Rockin’ to the Edge of the Night
We head back to the band’s albumHuman Era(2015), where we find the terrific ballad “Rockin’ to the Edge of the Night.” Unlike our number six song, which felt a little soft, “Rockin’ to the Edge of the Night” is a hard-hitting rock ballad. The harmonious vocals and striking guitar work are the driving force behind the song’s success.

“Tattoos & Misery” is the band’s first track offNew Audio Machine(2012). The song was the first release in almost two decades. “Tattoos & Misery” is one of the best Trixter songs, thanks to its catchy melody and well-crafted lyrics. This brilliant song finds the singer lamenting sharing time with a person he states is good for tattoos and misery alone.

The third song on our top 10 Trixter songs list is the breath-taking hit “Surrender.” “Surrender” is one of the most successful songs fromTrixter(1990). The song managed to rise to number seventy-two on the Billboard Hot 100. Other artists who have released a song under the same title (but with different lyrics) include Tribal Seeds and Natalie Taylor.
# 2 – One in a Million
“One in a Million” is a musical gem from the band’s eponymous debut album. The song finds the singer mesmerized by the kind of love he is receiving from the subject woman. He reveals that even though he walks a lonely path and might never know some things, he is sure that his lover is a rare species to find in this cruel world. “One in a Million” peaked at number seventy-five on the Billboard Hot 100 and thirty-three on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts.
# 1 – Give It to Me Good
Number one on our top 10 Trixter songs list is the impressive hit “Give It to Me Good.” The song is featured on Trixter’s debut albumTrixter(1990). “Give It to Me Good” finds the singer longing to have a moment with a gorgeous woman he just met. The song is the band’s best performing and most successful single, peaking at number sixty-five on the Billboard Hot 100. “Give It to Me Good” managed to rise to the twenty-sixth position on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
