American River Wellness surveyed over 3,000 drivers to identify the best family-owned gas stations in the U.S., creating a list of the top 126 pit stops. 'Tucked between the big chains are independent gas stations that have become part pit stop, part local landmark,' said Graham Sargent, founder of the survey. The ranking highlights three Louisiana destinations: State Oil Fuel Center in Belle Chasse, Family Grocery and Deli in Tangipahoa Parish, and Curtis Grocery in Sabine Parish.
State Oil Fuel Center, ranked 102 in the survey, sits at 7124 LA-23. It offers a full deli with fried chicken, meal deals, and a convenience store, all while boasting the largest fuel selection and fastest service in the area. Its website claims it's the best gas station near you.
Family Grocery and Deli, at 56388 LA-445, ranks highest among Louisiana stops at 41. This 24-hour operation sells breakfast, lunch, and groceries, blending convenience with a warm, community-focused vibe.
Curtis Grocery, ranked 123, is located in a Texas border town. With a menu including coffee, breakfast, lunch, and po-boys, it’s a must-visit for foodies.
