There appears to be a lot of interests over Zero Water purification system lately. Today we picked the top 5 questions frequently asked by our readers
Q1. Will Zero Water filter remove arsenic?
A: Arsenic is a known substance that increases one’s risk of diabetes and cancer. Zero Water filter is certified to remove up to 99% of arsenic.
Q2. Does Zero Water filter out chlorine?
A: Yes, Zero Water filtration products are certified to reduce chlorine to an undetectable level. That means, you won’t detect any chlorine taste and smell in the water filtered by Zero Water. This capability is even tested and certified by an independent third-party, NSF International.
Q3. Does Zero Water pitcher remove fluoride from water?
A: Yes, Zero Water filtration technology does reduce the amounts of fluoride (compounds that contain the element fluorine) in the water. But, that means you’d need to brush your teeth more often! (Just kidding!)
Q4. Does Zero Water purifier remove bacteria and cysts?
Sorry, Zero Water cannot remove bacteria, cysts, viruses and other microbiological contaminants. You should only use treated municipal water with your Zero Water pitcher or bottle.
For the uninitiated, microbiological cysts, like cryptosporidium and giardia, are parasites that can cause intestinal distress and illnesses. Symptoms include stomach ache and diarrhea. Usually, it will resolve on its own after a couple of days. But for people with compromised immune system, it can lead to dehydration and even death. So be warned!
To remove microbiological contaminants, you can boil the water for about 5 to 10 minutes, or use a water filter with ultra-violet lamp. For the purists, you can even consider turning air to water with an atmospheric water generator, thus avoiding most of the common contaminants found in water.
Q5. Can Zero Water filter remove iron, lead and mercury?
Yes! Zero Water does reduce the levels of iron, lead and mercury, as certified by NSF International. In fact, Zero Water pitcher is the first pour-through filter to receive certification for lead reduction under NSF’s new, stricter standard in 2008.
Zero Water is also certified to remove zinc, chromium, aluminum and hydrogen sulfide. I don’t think you can find other pitchers that have garnered so many independent certifications.
Q6. Can Zero Water filter remove pesticides and herbicides?
