It turns out that the two kinds of Pringles potato chips that are most popular worldwide, according to a recent review, are Original and Sour Cream & Onion.
“While we create hundreds of unique irresistible local market flavors to provide our consumers all around the world with tastes they know and love, ultimately we find we are all more similar than different in our preferences for Pringles flavors. Original and Sour Cream & Onion are the top-selling flavors in all of the markets in which we sell our iconic chips,” Christine Jakovcic, Vice President of Global Brands for Kellanova, mentioned in a press release.
Midway through the 1950s, the first Pringles were released, and in 1984, Sour Cream & Onion made their appearance. Nowadays, Pringles – the first stackable potato-based chips – offers over 160 different flavor combinations. Local flavor extensions reflect the character and preferences of the area. For instance, cheese fondue and pigs in blankets have been popular dishes in the UK and other parts of Europe. Fans of Egg Sandwich Pringles are quite popular in Japan, while Sweet Mayo Cheese is very popular in South Korea.
“Tell us your favorite flavor by posting on our Pringles Instagram page. If you have ideas for new flavors, we’d love to hear those, too. Capturing trends and what is going to wow the taste buds of our Pringles fans is always fun,” Jakovcic asked.
The majority of Pringles potato chips enjoyed by people varies by area. Chinese New Year is a huge selling season in Southeast Asia, while the Super Bowl and summertime in the U.S. and Canada are when Pringles sales peak. Sales of Pringles doubled in the UK in December. In the weeks preceding Christmas in 2022, Pringles were bought by 8.3m homes.
