The Toyota Quantum has dominated the taxi market for as long as 18 years, prior to the return of the Nissan Impendulo taxi, and has been the most purchased vehicle for use as minibus taxis in South Africa. Other than transporting people, the Quantum is also available in a configuration that allows for the transportion of goods. Toyota has a long standing background within the taxi industry, having assisted in the legal matters against the apartheid government in the 80s that kept africans from driving taxi’s.
