How long does a TrustLine background check take? ›

How long does it take to get TrustLine Certified? Once you have sent in all the required paperwork and completed your fingerprinting, it can take up to 2 weeks to process your application if you live in the state of California and up to 6 weeks if you live out of state.

TrustLine is California's registry of in-home child care providers who have been through a criminal background screening and clearance process. A background check discloses information about any criminal history that a potential child care provider may have.

TrustLine has a one-time only fee of around $143 dollars. Once an applicant is Registered with TrustLine, there is no renewal fee to stay TrustLine Registered.

If you want to know whether you passed your check, you can either reach out to the employer who requested it or reach out to the background check company itself. Ultimately, you can fight for yourself, especially if you fail your background record check.

If you've passed the employment background check, you'll likely receive an email with a job offer!

Parents can check if a provider is Registered with TrustLine by calling 800-822-8490 or emailing trustline@rrnetwork.org, and giving the provider's full name, and ID number (CA or Out-of-State Driver's License or ID number, or a permanent resident card).

TrustLine was created by the California Legislature to offer parents, employment agencies, child care resource and referral programs, and child care providers access to a background check conducted by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS).

What does it mean to be Registered with TrustLine? A person who is Registered with TrustLine has passed the background screening which means they have no disqualifying criminal convictions, or arrests, and no substantiated child abuse reports in California, which are checked at: California Department of Social Services.
