How long does the evaluation process take?

You have 30 days from the date your application is approved to complete the evaluation process. Within that 30 day window, you can work at your own pace and in your own time. If you actively work at completing the process, it can be completed within a few days.

Does SpeakWrite's software work on a Mac?

A Windows operating system is required to run our software. If you are able to install and run Windows OS on your Mac, it may be compatible.

Why can't I apply from Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the U.S., but not a state. We are only able to accept applications from experienced typists residing in the U.S. or Canada. We must follow strict guidelines, due to requirements of our clients and the nature of their transcriptions.

I do not know my username and / or password.

When you submitted your application, you received two emails containing your login information. Please check your email and your spam folder to find these emails.

I am having trouble signing the security / confidentiality forms.

Make sure to use the exact same capitalization / spelling as when your application was create. For example, if you typed your name in all caps in your application, this form will be looking for it in all caps as well.

I am having trouble submitting my work history form.

If you are having trouble submitting this form the first time, give it another try. Double check that you have provided valid phone numbers and email addresses. If that does not work, fill out the form, copy it into an email, and send it to Contractor.Support @ SpeakWrite.com.

I am not able to log in.

When I receive work, do I complete the job at my own pace?

No, we offer clients a very fast turnaround time, so jobs should typically be completed within our recommended turnaround time of 2.0 to 2.2 ratio of job length/ completion time.

If I'm not comfortable with a job assigned to me, can I return it and receive a different job?

Typists must work on all jobs assigned to them. However, if the subject matter or the language on some jobs is too offensive, typists may request that the job be re-queued.

I am having trouble with the typing test.

A separate company handles the typing test, so we cannot help with technical issues.

What is the compensation, and how are payments delivered?

Typists are paid one-half cent per word, with some shifts offering a 10% bonus. Payment is made twice a month, either by direct deposit (currently available to U.S. typists only) or by check. We do not use PayPal or other payment services.

How do I receive assignments?

Jobs are assigned and uploaded through our proprietary software.

How many hours do I have to work / can I work?

SpeakWrite operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Typists choose their own shifts – no more than 12 hours in a day and at least 15 scheduled hours per month.

Does SpeakWrite do data entry (or medical transcription)?

No, SpeakWrite does not have data entry or medical transcription positions.

Do I need a foot pedal to do the testing?

A foot pedal is not needed for the testing process. However, if you are offered a contract, a foot pedal is required to work on live jobs.

Why does your website ask me for a credit card? Is this a scam?
