Your raw score increases by 1 point for each question answered correctly. that ranges from 20, the lowest, to 80, the highest. This scaled score is the score that appears on your score report.

The American Council on Education (ACE) recommends a credit-granting score of 50 for each CLEP exam. This is a scaled score, equivalent to earning a C in the relevant course.

What is a passing score on CLEP? According to the College Board, a passing score on CLEP is 50 out of 80, or 63%. 20 is the lowest possible score and 80 is the highest. Most CLEP exams are multiple choice, though some, such as College Composition, also have essay components.

CLEP Raw Score Conversion Chart is as follows: Scaled scores of 58 to 80 are equivalent to an A. Scaled scores of 53 to 57 are equivalent to a B. Scaled scores of 47 to 52 are equivalent to a C.

CLEPs don't run on a 100 point scale. They run on an 80 point scale. Your score of 70 is really a 70/80, so its essentially a 87.5% (The tests are generally graded on a curve so this isn't really the case, but you get the idea). You should be good to go.

Fortunately most schools only list passing CLEP's......so they all look pretty good to me. If your question is whether a CLEP present a different appearance than a grade earned sitting in a class room, yes they do.

CLEP credits are earned on a pass or fail basis, and test takers must score a 50 to earn the credit. Similar to Advanced Placement credits, CLEP credits don't count toward a student's grade point average, and colleges may vary in how credits are applied and what courses they can be applied to.

You can view your scores online by logging into the CLEP My Account portal with the same account you used to register for the exam. Once logged in, go to the My CLEP Exam Scores page to view your scores. Scores are available online one business day following your exam.

What is a passing grade on CLEP? ›

All CLEP exams have a passing score of 50 (out of 80), but this is a scaled score, which means that the Collegeboard establishes a grading scale based on how other test-takers have performed.

Colleges and universities set their own criteria for what counts as a CLEP passing score, so be sure to check your school's requirements. How difficult you find these exams depends on your academic knowledge and professional background. The easiest CLEP exams for you may be very challenging for another student.

Credit by Examination

We accept a maximum of 16 credits, combined, for coursework completed by an examination, such as the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), or professional training approved by the American Council on Education (ACE). For each CLEP exam, students are awarded 4 credits.

The raw score increases by one point for each question answered correctly, and no points are gained or lost when a question is either unanswered or incorrectly answered. Next, the raw score is converted into a scaled score by a statistical process called equating.

It's important to note that CLEP scores for exams taken on or after July 1, 2022, will be available for 10 years from the test date. Scores for CLEP exams taken on or before June 30, 2022, will be available for 20 years from the test date. Follow the steps below to get started.

Generally, only 50 out of 80 is needed to pass a CLEP exam, which comes out to a grade of 70%. The catch is that a CLEP test will appear as a “P” for “pass” on your transcript whether you get a 50 or an 80.

The test taker's raw score is simply the number of questions answered correctly. However, this raw score is not reported. Instead, it is converted into a scaled score by a process that adjusts for the level of question difficulty on the different forms of the test. The scaled scores are reported on a scale of 20–80.

CLEP offers 34 exams that cover introductory level college course material. With a passing score on one CLEP exam, you could earn three or more college credits at 2,900 U.S. colleges and universities.

Essays written for the College Composition and Spanish with Writing exams are graded by college professors who are selected by the College Board from the faculty of two- and four-year institutions. The writing-section grade is combined with the multiple-choice score, and the result is reported as a scaled score.
