Why did Steam add the 7 day trade ban? ›

When you cancel a trade that is being held by Steam, we'll presume that you intercepted a hijacker and you'll see a 7 day trading cooldown to prevent any further unauthorized attempts to trade away items. This cooldown is for your protection and cannot be removed by Steam Support.

The reason is typically shown when you try to initiate a trade or perform an action on the Community Market. Important: Steam Support cannot modify trading or Community Market restrictions, regardless of the circ*mstances under which your account became restricted.

Trade Lock is a seven-day trade ban for newly purchased or traded items in Steam. You can use it, but not exchange. Unfortunately, once you receive a new item on your Steam account, it gets a cooldown. However, you can still trade skins within a week of the transaction, as there are possible options outside of Steam.
