Is the Korea Q code still required? ›

(4) Q-code registration is no longer required.

From April 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, the Korean Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) is not required for US citizens for stays of 90 days or less that are for tourism or business purposes. Visa required for all other purposes, including employment, teaching English, and for stays longer than 90 days.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with the Korea Tourism Organisation, is hosting 'Visit Korea Year 2023-24', offering individuals the opportunity to win an all-expenses-paid five-day trip to Korea.

COVID-19 in Korea

Currently, the Republic of Korea has no COVID-19 testing, proof of vaccination, or quarantine requirements for entry to Korea.

Normally, you must apply for a K-ETA before entering Korea for short-term stays.

You need to access Q-Code and start to submit information before boarding. Once you submit all the Information correctly, your QR-Code will be issued. You can present your QR-Code (both printed on paper or captured with electronic device) to quarantine officer at the airport.

You can apply for K-ETA anytime. However you MUST obtain a K-ETA approval before boarding the flight or ship bound for the Republic of Korea. You can apply for K-ETA via the K-ETA official website (www.k-eta.go.kr) or mobile App (K-ETA).

If you receive 'Approval for Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA),' you do not need to print or bring the 'Approval for Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA)' and 'e-Arrival Card' with you when entering Korea.

1 K-ETA eligible nationals, who wish to enter visa-free the Republic of Korea, must obtain K-ETA approval before boarding the flight or ship. Please keep in mind that the assessment can take more than 72 hours depending of the situation (ex, an increased number of K-ETA applications, applicants' circ*mstances, etc).

You are only allowed to visit North Jeolla Province, South Jeolla Province, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and Jeju Island. If you want to travel around South Korea comfortably, you are required to use a visa. No need to worry, as the application process is relatively easy and free of charge.

Visitors entering Korea are required to submit an arrival card, except for those who are staying for 90 days or more and have registered with the Korea Immigration Service.
