VSC (short for Veri SuBBo Challenge) is an unrated 2.1 collaboration level created by BoBoBoBoBoBoBo (commonly shortened to Bo) and Woom, published by Bo and verified by Yossarian.^[1] It is a challenge level. The level is similar to Superr Challenge, a previous challenge by Bo (also verified by Yossarian),^[2] and shares a similar colour scheme and basic decoration approach. VSC is mostly a rusty colour, and the visual style is somewhat industrial. The gameplay consists entirely of extremely tight wave spam and timings, both as mini-size and normal-size. The speed varies between 0.5x and 1x throughout the level. Many people, including top players, consider this one of the hardest levels in the game.

History[]

Bo and Woom initially created the level in 2018. Though only 16 seconds long, the level imposes a huge challenge with its extreme wave gameplay. On 16 March 2020, Woom uploaded the final preview of the level.^[3] Woom stated in the video description that the verification process thus far went through over 320,000 attempts, and the level is still not yet released. In 2020, Bo posted that he completed the level. However, he later admitted to hacking it using no-spike.

VSC gained extreme notoriety the following year, as the community viewed it as almost impossible. Eventually, the level was legitimately verified by Yossarian on 21 September 2021. The community was shocked that this seemingly impossible challenge was suddenly verified, with a fluke from 48%. The level was immediately placed at the top of the Challenge List. It took nearly a year for the first victor to be declared, even after verification. On 22 June 2022, Diamond would become the first victor^[4] after some brutal crashes at the end of the level. Conix became the second victor on 14 July 2022,^[5] and Nev became the third on 8 September 2022.^[6]

Gameplay[]

VSC's gameplay is entirely wave-based. The level involves an extremely difficult wave segment featuring tight gaps and gravity/size changes. Because of these features combined with the near-complete darkness, the margin for errors in manoeuvring the claustrophobic spaces of the level is minuscule. After beating the entire wave segment, the level ends with a cube that launches up and turns into a robot, after which the text 'GG' can be seen.

User coins[]

The level contains three bronze user coins, all collected automatically at the end of the wave section as a reward for completing the level.

Fails[]

• Cursed crashed at 88%, dying to the last possible obstacle.^[7] He has also died at 80%.
• Diamond's notable crashes include 88%, 81% and 71% before completing the level.
• Doggie crashed at 88% on 1 May 2023, an hour before he completed it.

• The level's password is 091101.
• The level contains 24,641 objects.
• The level is 16s in length.
• The level is currently #1 on the Challenge List, above FINAL FANTASY (#2).
• The level was shortly pushed into the Legacy List of the Challenge List due to having spam-based gameplay but later moved back.
• For a short time, The Third Variant, an extremely difficult timing challenge requiring 18 360Hz frame-perfect cube jumps followed by blind orb timings, was placed above VSC on the Challenge List. The Third Variant was later removed from the list due to being verified illegitimately, although unintentional.^[8]
• The level took Yossarian 154,153 attempts to verify, and he fluked it from 48%.
• The current record for the least attempts spent beating the level belongs to wPopoff, with less than 20k attempts.^[9]
  • However, his clicks did not record so he had to rebeat the level, which brought the attempt count up to 20,869.
• Diamond was the first victor of the level, taking 197,384 attempts.
• Nev has beaten the level 30 times (including different versions).
• Bo's best record before hacking the level was 65%.
• JACKSONAMORE became the first player to take over one million attempts on a level with his completion of this.
  • His exact attempt count is 1,096,583.
• The level was temporarily updated to complain about a creator's release schedule in December 2023. [citation needed]
• Bo's hacked verification video on Woom's channel contains an infamous introduction sequence.
  • The video first featured slowed-down footage of Bo's previous challenge Superr Challenge, with a higher pitch version of the song 'Stalker' by Waterflame before glitching out. After a black screen, it displays the text 'AFTER A MENTAL BREAKDOWN' as the pre-drop of the song plays at the original pitch and shows slow footage of VSC. Then, it shows the texts '334990 ATTEMPTS', '1,5 years' and 'THE HARDEST CHALLENGE'. Finally, it shows the text, 'I fell into shock for 30 minutes straight after beating it'.
    • The phrase 'After A Mental Breakdown' became a meme and is used as an exaggerated reaction involving the level's extreme difficulty.
      • Some victors have used the same sequence in their completion videos.
