Wallet account Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) (2024)

Your MoonPay account lets you store and manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. It only supports native ETH and EVM compatible networks (MATIC and USDC). MoonPay doesn’t currently support other EVM-compatible networks.

How do I sell crypto from my MoonPay account?

You can sell ETH and BTC directly from the MoonPay app. To do this:

  1. Log in to MoonPay.
  2. Select the "Sell" button.
  3. Choose the asset you want to sell.
  4. Enter the amount you want to sell and continue.
  5. Select where you’d like to receive your payout.
  6. Review the information and select ‘Sell now →’
  7. Initiate the crypto deposit to the wallet address provided.
If you are selling ERC-20 tokens you will need native ETH in your wallet to cover the cost of network fees.

📘

Note:

This feature is only available on the MoonPay mobile app at this time.

Most crypto trading is in US dollars, but you might want to know how the amounts convert in your local currency. To help you do this, you can view your account balance in any of the currencies MoonPay supports.

To change the currency view, open account settings, select ‘Change default currency’, and select the currency you wish to change to. There’s more detail in this article: How to change default currency.

📘

Note:

If you change your default currency, all the activity in your account will display in that currency.

We don’t currently display onchain activity for your MoonPay account. But you can see your onchain activity directly on the blockchain by following these instructions:

  1. Open the blockchain for the token activity you want to view.
    1. BTC
    2. ETH
    3. SOL
  2. Copy your wallet address from MoonPay.
  3. Paste it into the blockchain.
  4. View your transaction activity.

What are the network fees for sending crypto in the MoonPay account?

When you send crypto from your MoonPay account, you’ll need to pay a network fee. There are three types of network fee to choose from — Standard, Fast, and Urgent. You’ll need to pick one of these every time you make a trade.

A Standard network fee is the cheapest option. But at busier times, transactions made with Standard fees might take longer to process on the blockchain. An Urgent network fee is more expensive and usually means your trade will be processed faster. But ultimately, how fast your transaction completes depends on network conditions.
You’ll always see the full cost of fees upfront, before you make your trade. The way we apply the fee differs depending on whether you’re sending BTC, ETH or SOL:

  • BTC: The fee is in BTC.
  • ETH & ERC-20: The fee is in ETH.
  • SOL: The fee is in SOL.

📘

Note:

Make sure you have enough of the native token (BTC, ETH or SOL) in your MoonPay account to cover the cost of network fees.
