A ‘Unit’ of gas is a measure of the amount of gas consumed at a property. Here we break it down to help you understand how many units the appliances in your home may be using so that you can better manage your use of gas in your home.
Units of gas measure the amount of gas consumed at a property. 1 unit of gas is equal to one kilowatt hour (kWh) of gas used. Its important to understandthat your gas meter does not directly show how many units you are using, but instead measures the amount of gas used by volume in Cubic Meters (m3) or Cubic Feet (ft3), depending on the type of meter that you have. This is then converted to Units (kWh’s) by your energy supplier on your gas bill. You will then be charged an amount in pence per kWh (unit) of gas used.
