The big idea in advertising refers to the central concept or message that forms the foundation of an advertising campaign. It is the core creative concept that is used to communicate the brand's message, positioning, and unique selling proposition in a memorable and impactful way.
A big idea should be relevant to the target audience and capture their attention while differentiating the brand from competitors. It should be a clear and concise message that can be easily understood and shared by consumers. A great big idea can inspire emotions, create a strong connection with the brand, and drive consumer action.
Successful advertising campaigns often have a big idea at their core that is executed across various marketing channels and media formats. Some iconic examples of big ideas in advertising include "Just Do It" by Nike, "Think Different" by Apple, and "The Ultimate Driving Machine" by BMW.

I fully agree with David Ogilvy's sentiment, but looking at the media now all I see is mashed potato . Advertisers seem to be going out of their way to look the same to not offend anyone. Do you think that one day, in sheer desperation, they'll just say " hang all the data" lets just do it?
