We require everyone who is part of our community to stick to these simple rules for being a great guest: Treat your Host's home like your own. Follow the Host's standard house rules.

The basics: Airbnb must-haves

Freshly laundered bed linen on each bed. Sufficient pillows for each guest. Extra pillows and blankets – “just in case” Plenty of clothes hangers.

I can't say enough good things about hosting [Guest's Name]. They were incredibly respectful of our home and went above and beyond to ensure everything was in order during their stay. Communication was excellent and they were a pleasure to host. I highly recommend to any Airbnb host.

Many hosts post “House Rules” setting cleaning expectations, and there's no need to go above and beyond. You're on vacation, after all — and a cleaning fee is often included in the cost of your reservation.

It's important to have a contact details book including emergency numbers and the host's number on the key for ease of communication. WiFi is now commonplace for guests and they expect to be able to get online. Clean sheets and towels are a given. Store toilet paper supplies in the bathroom.

Thoughtful Amenities:

Consider what little touches can make your guests' stay more enjoyable. Provide amenities like quality toiletries, fresh towels, and a well-stocked kitchen. Think about the needs and comforts of your guests.

Travelers choose vacation rentals over hotels for specific reasons, including access to a kitchen, extra space, and privacy. Smart hosts focus on those areas. A well-equipped kitchen separates you from any competition.

Negative Airbnb Guest Review Examples

We are disappointed by (Guest's Name) stay on our property. Unfortunately, the apartment was left in a messy state. We had to spend a lot of time to make it proper for the next guest. The least we can expect from our guests is cleanliness.

If hosts don't review a guest on Airbnb, no review will show up on the guest's profile. In this case, the host will have to wait 14 days for the guest's review of them (if the guest chooses to leave one) to appear. If hosts want to see their reviews earlier, they'll have to leave a review for the guest.

Checkout instructions vary from one Airbnb to the next. However, common expectations include leaving before the established checkout time, returning the key, taking all of your belongings, and carrying out any agreed-upon cleaning tasks, such as taking out the trash or washing the dishes.

If you want to bring extra guests

Some Hosts may have an extra guest fee and require that you submit a trip change request to add any additional guests to your reservation. Other Hosts might have a strict limit on the capacity for their home and can't accommodate any more people.

Most guest service fees are under 14.2% of the booking subtotal (the booking subtotal includes the nightly price and any additional fees charged by the Host, but excludes the guest service fee and taxes).

No matter what kind of day you're having, always greet your guests with a smile when you welcome them to your Airbnb. Often they will have travelled far and be weary, so they'll appreciate a friendly face at the end of their journey. Consider offering them a cup of tea or cool drink.
