Open enrollment for Covered California starts in the fall. Even when open enrollment is over, individuals with qualifying life events can enroll at any time of the year. Medi-Cal

Open enrollment is the time of year when everyone can apply for a plan through Covered California. This usually happens from November to January. Outside open enrollment, people who experience qualifying life events can apply during special enrollment.

When Is the Open Enrollment Period for Obamacare 2023-2024? Open Enrollment for Covered California begins on November 1, 2023 and continues until January 31, 2024.

We will send you a letter within 45 days to tell you which program you and your family members qualify for.

You can apply for Medi-Cal at any time of the year by mail, phone, fax, or email. You can also apply online or in person.

According to Covered California income guidelines and salary restrictions, if an individual makes less than $47,520 per year or if a family of four earns wages less than $97,200 per year, then they qualify for government assistance based on their income.

The limits are based on both household income and household size. In 2024, an individual in a one-person household is eligible for some degree of Covered California subsidies if they earn up to $33,975 Meanwhile, that limit rises to $69,375 for a household size of 4.

Renewal usually starts in the fall right before the open-enrollment period. At that point, you'll be able to switch your health insurance plan and make any changes. You can always report changes when things like your household size and income have changed.

Open enrollment is from Nov. 1 through Jan. 31.

You must financially qualify for Medi-Cal. Most single individuals will qualify for Medi-Cal if there income is under $1,676 per month. Most couples will qualify if their income is under $2,267 per month. If you have disabilities, your income can be slightly higher.
