AI art is still as magical to me as it was the first time I heard about it.
And how a single button turns my words into high-quality imagery still wows me.
So let’s say you’ve tried AI art generators like Leonardo AI, loved them, and are now ready to make your images work for you.
Here are the best places to sell your AI-generated art for passive income.
The best thing about these places is that they’re marketplaces with active buyers already looking for what you have to offer.
As a beginner, here are the best places to sell your AI art for passive income.
Amazon KDP truly is one of the best marketplaces for beginners looking to monetize their AI images.
It’s a platform by Amazon, so it’s obviously super profitable.
But not just that, it’s also completely free for anyone to sign up.
Creating your Amazon KDP account is easy, and some of the books you could be selling on this marketplace include:
- Recipes
- Story Books
- and Coloring Pages.
Let’s say I wanted to create a coloring book for a profitable keyword like “Hawaii coloring book”, which is
- In obvious demand (as suggested by Amazon)
- And has a low competition of just
Now, all I need to do is ask ChatGPT for ideas on what the scenes of my coloring page should look like.
With these scene ideas and the coloring page prompt from the Leonardo Prompt Bundle, I was able to generate the following pages.
To turn this into a sellable coloring book, I’d need to
- Combine the files into a single PDF document
- and generate a book cover image for the coloring book
Now, since book covers are so important for getting sales, we’ll also have to generate images for them as well.
All I’d need to do is generate an image similar to the colored version of our black-and-white coloring book.
For this, I used the same prompt but made a few changes to the art model elements and prompt description.
And these were the images it came up with
To create the final book cover, we’ll be using Canva’s free template library.
And once I find a cover template I like, I would simply need to
- Add in the image generated by Leonardo AI
- and also switch up the text to suit the context in question
Now I used to sell on Amazon KDP, and I sold reasonably well for a beginner.
That’s how I know it’s a perfect marketplace to be on.
Is it a marketplace list without Etsy included?
Definitely not!
Because with the variety of AI-generated digital products you could be selling on Etsy, there’s literally no better place to be than this.
I’m talking
- Clipart
- Nursery Wall art
- Digital Papers
- Coloring pages
You name it.
If AI can create it, then you can sell it on Etsy.
The one thing to note about Etsy, though, is that it’s highly competitive.
So, when it comes to selling on Etsy, the power lies in finding highly profitable keywords to focus on.
Because thankfully AI makes creating these digital products super easy.
I know it’s possible because one of my readers tried Etsy and made their first few sales for me in less than 2 weeks.
This is another highly profitable marketplace to be on, and yes, it’s been tried and tested by me and another one of my readers.
Teachers Pay Teachers is a marketplace by teachers, for teachers, and to sell your AI art on this platform, you need to think like a teacher.
What art resources or imagery would a teacher need for their classroom?
But if you can’t think of anything, don’t worry, there’s also ChatGPT around to help.
Just ask for ideas.
Once again, you’ll need to become proficient at finding profitable keywords to create AI art images around because that’s how you generate sales.
And at this point, I want to use this medium once again to say congratulations to one of us for making his first sale of AI digital products on Teachers Pay Teachers.
I tried selling my art images on stock photo sites once, and surprisingly, I was able to make my first stock photo sale for $1.00.
Now, while that doesn’t sound like a lot of money, keep in mind that with the help of an AI art generator,
you’ll literally be able to build a library of photos that generate passive income for you.
But what exactly is a stock Photo site?
Well, you know how brands, content creators, and small businesses need all kinds of images for their branding and stuff.
Well, not every one of these businesses can afford full-fledged photoshoot sessions, so they opt for more affordable options like stock photos.
On these stock photo sites, photographers, designers, or, in our case, AI art designers upload images and essentially hand over rights for businesses to use.
These businesses then pay either a one-time fee or a subscription to gain access to your images.
And that’s how you get paid.
Some of the free and most profitable stock photos side hustles to join include:
- Adobe stock with 57.68M monthly visitors
- and Freepik with 183.44M monthly visitors
This is the marketplace on which I currently sell, and I have grown to have more than 421 followers and 2601 favorites.
It’s relatively similar to Etsy only with little differences
- Lesser competition
- And more opportunities for beginners.
So, if you’ve tried Etsy and haven’t made your first sale yet, you should probably try Creative Fabrica.
With creative Fabrica, some of the AI digital products I’ve sold were
- Digital papers
- and Clipart bundles
Other very high-yield places where you could be selling your AI art are on print-on-demand marketplaces.
Now print on demand basically means what it sounds like.
You get products printed on demand and shipped to customers.
You’ll literally enjoy the perks of owning a t-shirt or merch business without having to handle any of the inventory or shipping problems.
Your job is to simply
- design
- and upload on these platforms
The lovely thing about Print On Demand is their inbuilt marketplaces with free traffic.
Yes, they print your products and still give you the traffic you need!
That’s insane!
So on that note, here are some of the best print on demand with how much traffic they get per month
- Zazzle with 8.7 million monthly visitors
- Displate with 8.58 million monthly visitors
- Society6 with 2.49 million monthly visitors
- Teepublic with 11.46 million monthly visitors
Plus there’s always ChatGPT there to help with ideas when you ask.
For example, let’s say I wanted to launch a sticker shop on Redbubble.
I’d simply ask ChatGPT for 10–20 niches to create stickers around.
To get more specific, ask for sub-niches on each of these recommended niches.
Now, it’s not really about creating a huge library of your AI art images, but rather about
- Creating products related to the right niche
- and Generating High quality images
To find the right niches, remember to always narrow down your ideas to the best of them with
- High Demand (the reviews or search suggestions )
- Yet so low competition (less than 1000 search results)
As for the quality of the products you sell, you’re going to need to learn
- how AI works
- what to say as an image prompt and how to say it
- what image models to use for different image styles.
The prompt you use is literally everything when it comes to generating high-quality images.
These prompts are essentially commands from you to your AI generator, ensuring that it produces precisely what you’ve described.
For instance, I wanted to generate a Clipart image of a bagel
But a low quality prompt got me this image
While a more refined prompt generated this:
So what’s the way forward?
- You could either take weeks off to learn how these tools work, play around with them, and perfect your prompting skills.
- Or copy and paste my reusable prompts in minutes, tweak the editable words to better describe your specific image, and become an artist almost immediately.
I’ve compiled all of my high quality image prompts for
- Coloring Pages
- Clipart
- Storybooks
- Wall art
- Stickers
- Food images and so on
Into the Leonardo Prompt Bundle.
Now the choice is definitely yours, and both ways work; it’s just that one takes a lot longer.
For me, it took months to finally master Leonardo Ai, so set the right expectations.
But If you’re short on time and literally want to get straight into generating your money-making images right away,
