Physical layer isconcerned with transmitting raw bits over a communication channel. The designissues have to do with making sure that when one side sends a 1 bit, it isrecieved by the other side as 1 bit and not as 0 bit. In physical layer we dealwith the communication medium used for transmission.

Physical layer is theonly layer of OSI network model which actually deals with the physicalconnectivity of two different stations. This layer defines the hardwareequipment, cabling, wiring, frequencies, pulses used to represent binarysignals etc. Physical layer provides its services to Data-link layer.

Physical layer is thelowest layer of the OSI reference model. It is responsible for sending bitsfrom one computer to another. This layer is not concerned with the meaning ofthe bits and deals with the setup of physical connection to the network andwith transmission and reception of signals.

The physical layer is thefirst layer of the Open System Interconnection Model (OSI Model). The physicallayer deals with bit-level transmission between different devices and supportselectrical or mechanical interfaces connecting to the physical medium forsynchronized communication.
