W. Scott Stornetta was a visionary ahead of his time, so advanced that in 1991 he was already talking about blockchain technology, which has led him to be considered the "Father of Blockchain".

What is the blockchain- Blockchain?
Unot from the pioneers of current blockchain technology is definitely W. Scott Stornetta. So much so, that Satoshi Nakamoto refers to Stornetta on different occasions. Nakamoto used his contributions as a great reference for the creation of the cryptocurrency industry and the blockchain technology that exists today.
Stornetta is a renowned physicist, scientific researcher, and notable figure in cryptographic science and distributed computing. He was the first person to mention blockchain architecture. In a publication developed with scientist Stuart Haber in 1991, Stornetta described a digital hierarchy system called "chain of blocks". The studio was called "How to time-stamp a digital document" or "How to make a time stamp on a digital document". In this study, Haber and Stornetta sought to create mechanisms to create digital time stamps and order recorded files in a unique and secure way. This represented a computationally practical solution to prevent the modification and manipulation of digital documents.
Along with his colleague and friend Stuart Haber, W. Scott Stornetta would lay the groundwork for the emergence of the 2009st century blockchain technology revolution. Long before Satoshi Nakamoto even introduced his technology in XNUMX.
Career and professional life
Stornetta began her studies at Stanford University, where she earned a Ph.D. in Physics. During his years at this university, he participated as an active member of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). After completing his doctoral program, Stornetta spent many years working on various investigations and establishing a series of new companies.
One of his most outstanding works was in Bell Communications Research (Bellcore). A company specialized in research and development of telecommunications. Stornetta worked as a scientific researcher and met Stuart Haber, with whom he established a strong friendship. He later becoming a partner and collaborator. Together they participated in numerous research projects, and co-authored several scientific publications in the field of cryptography and distributed computing.
In 1994, Stornetta and Haber co-founded an extension of the company. bell core. Which focused on providing digital time stamping services, which used the framework of the Linked Time Stamping Authority (TSA). Currently, this company is known under the name of surety, and is considered the first company to commercially provide the services of blockchain.
Later, Stornetta incorporated into its design the merkle trees, which was able to provide a robust collision resistant hash function framework. Managing to greatly minimize the problems associated with TSA. And making the use of technology more efficient by allowing multiple documents to be brought together in their single block. Thus, the Surety company managed to change the rules of the game in the world of cryptography and distributed computing. Providing many resources for the establishment of the blockchain technology that Bitcoin currently uses. However, blockchain technology was not used and the patent expired in 2004. Then in 2007, Stornetta retired from Surety to pursue his other passion: teaching.
Contributions and contributions to blockchain technology
From a young age, Stornetta dedicated himself to the research and development of efficient processes for data management. In the process, he ended up developing various jobs in the areas of cryptography and computing. All this in order to discover a technology that allows you to make a change in the world. One that allows you to store, manage and expose information in a way that is simple and understandable to everyone. Although Stornetta initially made no mention of current Blockchain technology, he did describe a hierarchy system that they called a blockchain.
In 1991, Stornetta together with his collaborator Haber, developed their first job. Which consisted of creating a blockchain that was cryptographically protected. In which, the timestamps of the documents could not be manipulated or modified. Then in 1992, he added Merkle trees to his design. Achieving a substantial improvement in the storage and handling of documents and files.
However, it was not until 2008 that his work came to life. His contributions and research were used by Satoshi Nakamoto for the development of blockchain technology as we know it today. Without them, perhaps Nakamoto could not have designed the Bitcoin system as such.
When Nakamoto published the Bitcoin whitepaper, Stornetta was very interested in the crypto applications this project showed. After that, and until today, he continues with his role as a researcher to improve the current situation of technology. Considering that its potential can be exploited even more than we know so far.
Other interests
Stornetta always had a strong attraction to teaching and the art of teaching. But he dedicated most of his life to the world of scientific research and development. However, after his retirement from the Surety company, he began his work as a teacher at Columbia High School, in New Jersey. There he teaches mathematics at the introductory level for freshmen.
It is also dedicated to instructing students to enter the programs of studies for gifted children. Above all, dedicating himself to helping them exploit their abilities to the fullest. To do this, he teaches advanced classes on how to conduct scientific investigations.
Stornetta has transferred his research experience to development modalities that improve the knowledge transfer process. It focuses on research that improves students' learning ability while ensuring that teachers have fairly manageable workloads.
