Does Royal Caribbean xray your luggage? ›

Any carry-on luggage must be able to fit through the x-ray screening machines. These machines vary in size from port to port, however generally they are similar to those found at airport security check points.

Packing for a cruise is a breeze as most cruise lines don't have a strict luggage policy. Generally, cruise lines recommend you bring two pieces of luggage per person at a maximum weight of 50 pounds as well as a small carry-on bag, with dimensions not exceeding 22" x 14" x 9".

Just like the security screening at an airport, we also screen all luggage our guests bring onboard to ensure everyone's safety. If there is an item in your luggage that is prohibited or is believed to be prohibited, your bag will be taken to a screening location and will be inspected by our Security Team onboard.

In addition to prohibited items, cruise lines check for items that could harm other passengers or damage the ship. These can include fireworks, drones, or anything considered a hazard. When boarding a cruise ship, passengers' luggage undergoes a thorough security screening process, just like at airports.

As a result, prohibited items may result in both a TSA civil enforcement action and a criminal enforcement action. Before leaving home, remember to check your baggage to ensure you are not carrying any prohibited items to avoid a possible arrest and/or civil penalties.

3-1-1 Liquids Rule

So the 3-1-1 rule is the TSA's quick reminder: 3 ounces, 1 quart bag and 1 bag per traveler. Note that food items, such as peanut butter, sauces or beverages need to fit within this 1 bag and larger items will be confiscated and discarded.

Most major cruise lines do permit you to bring and use vapes while aboard their ships, but where it is permittted can vary. Norwegian & Royal Caribbean for example allow you to vape in your stateroom, but not on your balcony.
