Have you ever heard the word MOMO ? If yes is only in as some kind of terrifying "game", you certainly need to google more! Momo aka Dumpling, a more popular name in most parts of the countries, is a famous
"Nepalese Food".
If you ever meet a Nepali and talk to them about Momos, you win the game!
Ever tasted momos , if yeah -VOILA!! You know the precise blow of ingredients in your mouth that charges your tastebuds with heavenly flavors. "Momo" to Nepal is what 'Tacos" is to Mexicans in the most logical sense possible. It is actually a mandatory menu dish in every café, restaurant, and household in Nepal.
Before you arrive at Momo Mania and order these delicacies, let us give you a background of how we prepare them and what ingredients do we use:
The base; Dough
We make sure that the dough is always fresh and of fine quality so it gives you that perfect home made notch. We love to use warm water when kneading dough along with a few sprinkles of salt mixed in the water. The flour can be either all-purpose flour or wheat flour as per your choice.
The stuffing and ingredients
Be it meat or vegetables, The stuffing's are always finely minced and flavored with garlic and ginger. The mixture of red onions, spring onions and coriander adds more juiciness to any type of stuffing either meat or non-meat.
Wrapping it up to steam for perfection
The stuffings are then wrapped into perfect shapes by hands and goes right in the steamer pot as shown in the picture for the magic to begin. We always make sure that it is just right steamed; neither under nor over to leave you wanting more and more of it.
Making of the Momo ko Achar aka Dipping Sauce
Eating Momo without Achar/ dipping sauce is an unforgivable sin we do not want to commit. We always make sure we have the fresh tomatoes and best red dried chillies available to us for the achar. Mix the peeled tomatoes that are boiled beforehand with toasted red dried chillies and fresh cilantro/coriander in a blender and puree it. Lastly, adjust the salt and there goes the divine dipping for your momos giving you that experience of heaven in mouth.
Lastly, here's the visual representation of us serving you the plate of happiness, Momo. Enjoy the plate!
Momo is love
