There are many beliefs in folklore and folktales that suggest that one should not wash their heads on a Thursday. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi gets upset if men or women wash their hair, trim them or cut their nails. Thursdays are considered to be the day of Laxmi-Narayan and hence getting a haircut or washing them, in addition to cutting your nails and shaving is said to be inauspicious.
As per astrology, Jupiter(Guru) is considered to be a factor that affects a woman's husband and children. It is believed that if a woman washes her hair on Thursday, then her Guru gets weak. This can have harmful effect of her husband and children.
Some also believe that cutting your hair and nails on Thursday leads to loss of money and weakens the financial condition of the person.
Things to do on a Thursday for auspicious results:
- Men and women should not do the above forbidden things on a Thursday.
- Yellow clothes should be worn on that day to please Jupiter (Guru).
- Because Thursday is a day of Laxminarayan, Lord Vishnu should be worshipped.
- Yellow coloured food should be offered to Lord Vishnu to please him.
