3 Ways to Solve Money Troubles According to the Bible
1. Get your mind right.
Matthew 6:16 reads, “Do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that others may see their fasting.” In other words, we shouldn’t go into a state of extreme poverty so people will think we’re holy. We should only care about what God thinks of us and forget the opinions of others. According to the Bible, to solve your financial issues, the first step is to get your mind right and seek God’s help because He has the answers.
2. Follow God’s lead with your money.
God invites His followers to go where He leads. Rushing ahead of God comes with consequences, some of which can be financial. In Romans 13:8, Paul reminds us to owe nothing but love, a reminder of God’s dislike for debt not being paid on time. Still, these debts can cause financial strains on relationships, marriages, and families. For example, credit card debt is a significant problem, as one statistic shows that the average household credit card debt is $5,315. The total United States consumer debt is $14.9 trillion, which may include auto loans, mortgages, and student loans. These debts can put a burden on families who are already struggling with other issues. Following God’s lead is always the right decision because He knows what’s best.
3. Pray about your finances.
Philippians 4:6 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Every aspect of a believer’s life is essential to God, including our money. Bring your concerns to Him. Ask Him for guidance and wisdom.

Everyone is fighting fear these days. Perhaps you feel anxiety in your chest when you open your eyes in the morning. You wonder about making ends meet or how you’ll pay your bills. Some people allow these thoughts to rattle in their brains, while others bury their heads in the sand, waiting for the ideas to go away. However, another way to handle your financial fears is to give your anxieties to God.
God cares about what we’re going through and even invites us to cast our burden onto Him in 1 Peter 5:7. He’s not far away with his feet kicked up, hoping things work out for us. He’s close to the confused and broken and wants to take your anxieties away from you. However, are you willing to let Him lift your burden? You can trade your fears for His peace if you’re willing to express your requests to Him.
God’s peace is powerful. It’s one of the only things that will loosen your tight chest when you feel you can’t breathe. Instead of fighting your way through anxiety and running through different scenarios in your head, let them go, take them to God and let Him take the heavy load off your back. He’s big enough to handle them, so take your worries to God.
Will God Solve Our Financial Issues?
There’s an appropriate way to view money, considering the Bible. God forgives us for our financial sins. He cares about our approach to our economic issues, and He cares about our well-being. He’s concerned about people who suffer due to another person’s calamity. Psalm 37:21 reminds us that the wicked borrow but doesn’t pay back. He also wants us to trust Him with something other than our investments. He wants to show His mercy, power and love in every way, but it helps if we let Him define our needs.
While God may not necessarily solve our financial issues, He can lead us to the tools to help solve our financial problems and get us back on the right track. In the Bible, specifically in 1 Timothy 6:10, we read that the love of money is the root of all evil, but it doesn’t necessarily forbid debt. Ultimately, we should look to God for help because all our help comes from the Lord. In your prayers, ask Him for guidance regarding your financial issues and ask Him to lead you through the storm. With His help, you’ll come out in better shape on the other side.
