1. Clean your Wound
The faster you start treating your wound, the faster it will heal. As soon as you notice your wound, apply pressure with a clean cloth or Elastoplast Non-Stick Dressing (if you have one) to stop any bleeding.
Next, wash your hands and clean your wound with the Elastoplast Wound Spray to remove dirt and debris that could lead to an infection. This wound spray acts fast and is pain free. It’s also colourless, odourless and won’t irritate sensitive skin.
2. Apply a Plaster
Cover your wound with an appropriate dressing like Elastoplast Fabric Plaster or Elastoplast Sensitive Plaster until the wound is completely healed.
A plaster will help to seal your wound in its moist environment so new cells can grow and repair your skin. A plaster also protects your wound from getting infected and scabbing. Scabbing delays healing and increases the likelihood of scarring. Change the plaster or dressing daily unless you’ve been recommended to do otherwise by your doctor.
3. Apply a Wound Healing Ointment
A wound healing ointment is key to quick wound healing. It helps create a moist healing environment which has been clinically proven to aid and speed up the natural wound healing process.
Elastoplast Wound Healing Ointment can be used at any stage of the healing process, creating a breathable film that protects the wound from external influences. Plus, when paired with one of our Elastoplast wound dressings it also promotes up to two times faster healing, compared to an untreated wound. Repeat regularly until the healing is completed.
4. Reapply Fresh Plasters
Keep your wound covered until your wound is completely healed but make sure to change your wound dressing regularly.
Usually, wound dressings and plasters should be changed daily for hygienic reasons.
