To be or not to be... single. That is the question.
On one hand, single pringle living is an odyssey full of freedom, independence and time. On the other hand, this can come with feelings of being left out, being a lil' lonely and lack of affection.
In my humble opinion, there's a time and a place for everything. Back in the day, all my relationships were necessary for me to become ME. But right now, at the ripe age of 21, single livin' is the bomb@hotmail.com for me. I'm just going with the flow and it feels red hot.
But, I've copped the cons too, so let's uncover the ups and downs of being single.
Pro: Freeeeeeedom
Dude, you can just SEND IT! I know I know, you can do that in a relationship too. But I'm talking, packing your bags and decidingto go on a road trip with a few minutes notice. I'm talking going to a festival with your mates without worrying if your bf/gf will feel left out. I'm talking, learning French so you can live in Paris one day and meet hot French boys (I'm genuinely doing this.Salut mes amis!)
Long story short, your decisions become simpler and faster without having to be grilled with the who, what, where, when, why q's from your significant other.With this territory comes more independence as well! You truly become capable to stand on your own two feet, be your own company, learn self-care and confidence.
Con:You can start to feel left out
I could write a novel on my time being a third wheel. See, it's all fun and games until they start passionately making out beside you and you just sit there awkwardly. Thank god I can just practice my French in my head now. Sacré bleu!
Truth be told, seeing your mates in perfect relationships can make you feel a little left out. Especially when they're being all cute and romantic and the most action you got all week was when that hot barista passed your coffee and your hands touched for a long second.
Pro:Time
Let's be real, being in a couple is time-consuming! In most cases, youcan't just go MIA for a week because you're frothing a TV show or writing a song. You are constantly catching up with them because you bloody love them and all... but without doing this, you're given the gift of time!
Time to develop hobbies and interests. Time to write that novel, learn to play the cello, read that book series, join the gym, learn French!... I don't know about you, but single life has got me glowin' up inside and out rn and I'm frothin' it.
Con: Less company
Outof necessity, humans evolved into social beings. This means we depend on being with others and having a gf/bf normally means company at the click of a button.
A partner is someone with common interests as yours and this makes life all the more fun as you have someone to do chores with, to talk nonsense with, to see that new movie with... you get the gist. Without this, you naturally spend more time alone during single life and sometimes it can be a lil' less of a vibe.
Pro: No ball and chain
Hahaha okay, ball and chain sounds a bit brutal, but for real, single life for me means that I can live my groupie dreams! I'm more inclined to go out there in the world, step out of my comfort zone and meet more people! There's no jealousy if you're flirting with that barista you touched hands, no compromises needed and no commitments whatsoever. Yeehaw.
Con: Less romancin'
For the most part,single's don't get as much one on onecare and affection and that may bring bouts of loneliness every now and then... sure, you have the freedom to just starfish out on your bed but sometimes it feels nicer to have someone sleeping next to you.
You don't have that one personto cuddle with... and you know,like, 'special' cuddlefor all yousaucy minxes.
The list goes on and on! It's apparent that being in a relationship and being single are both good ops. All I can say is, do what feels right for you and enjoy it!
