Backcountry Permits:
Within the park, backcountry permits are required for overnight hiking, overnight horseback riding. Check with a backcountry ranger station prior to heading out on any backcountry trip.
Camping Permits:
All camping fees are required in addition to entrance fees and are charged per night. Camping fees are different depending on the campground and reservations are recommended at campgrounds where available.
Does it cost money to go to Yellowstone?
Yes. You’ll need to pay a $35/vehicle fee to enter the park. This pass is good for 7 days. You can physically purchase your pass at the entrance gates, or you can buy it digitally from Recreation.gov before arriving. If you are visiting Yellowstone through the South Entrance after traveling through Grand Teton National Park, you will need to pay for both a Grand Teton pass ($35) and a Yellowstone pass. Alternatively, you can buy a National Parks Pass good for all U.S. National Parks that lasts a year for $80.
Does it cost money to see Old Faithful?
No, but Yellowstone does require a $35 entrance fee that’s valid for 7 days. The pass allows you to view all attractions within the park, including Old Faithful.
