Summary
- Builder Battles are the main form of attacking in the Builder Base. In Builder Battles, players attack other players' Builder Bases.
Matchmaking
- When starting a Builder Battle, you will be matched with people who have about the same number of Builder Trophies as you, and with a Builder Hall level as similar to yours as possible. The matchmaking system makes it possible to find opponents as much as about 200 Builder Trophies lower or higher than you are.
- High level players can deliberately keep their trophy counts low, so that they can be matched with weaker opponents and have easier wins. However, this results in less resource rewards.
- Players will expose themselves to taking a defense upon searching for an attack; every attack made allows one defense in return. Not attacking at all will result in defenses never being taken.
- Since players are open to attack when they start searching for an attack, as opposed to commencing an attack, this enables them to be attacked without attacking in return if they cancel their search. This distinction is also what allowed the first Builder Battles (upon the mode's launch) to take place, since by default no one was liable to be attacked to begin with.
Gameplay
- When you search for an opponent, you'll be matched with another opponent. You will then have 1 minute to prepare your army and plan a strategy to attack the base. Unlike Multiplayer Battles, you cannot change the opponent; once you have found a match, you'll be battling against that opponent.
- You can change between any troops that you have unlocked prior to the battle starting; you may also choose between your Heroes; you may only deploy one Hero at a time. However, once the battle begins under any condition (a troop deployed or the 1-minute timer running out), this option will no longer be available.
- The battle timer is fixed at two minutes per stage.
Two-Stage Attacks
- Starting from Builder Hall level 6, Builder Bases will be divided into two stages, with only the first stage being visible initially. If (and only if) the first stage is completely destroyed, the second stage is revealed, and attackers may continue the attack into the base's second stage, using the remains of their army plus additional reinforcements.
- Attackers are given another 1-minute pre-battle timer to plan their attack for the second stage, though it will end early upon deploying any troop or Hero. Alternatively, they may choose to end the battle without attacking the second stage at all.
- Additional troops are given to the attacker via the Reinforcement Camps, which can only be deployed on the second stage if it is reached; the attacker can swap between any unlocked troop for these camps. If the attacker has completely undeployed Army Camps, they can swap these camps as well prior to starting the second stage.
- Troops that were deployed on the first stage and survive will be healed via the Healing Hut, and can be re-deployed for the second stage. Troops with single-use abilities that have been used in stage one cannot re-use their ability in stage two.
- Bombers' reusable abilities will be fully recharged for stage two, regardless of its cooldown status at the end of stage one.
- Cannon Carts and Electrofire Wizards will always be deployed in their original modes (i.e. Cannon Mode and Inferno Mode, respectively) in stage two, though in any case they can change modes immediately.
- If the attacker has not lost their deployed Hero in the first stage, they will be able to choose that Hero for the second stage, with it retaining its health from the end of stage one; alternatively, they may deploy a different Hero (which starts at full health). If they did lose their stage-one Hero, they must choose a different Hero for the second stage, if they have one.
- The Healing Hut's effects will not apply to Heroes; if their abilities are available when a stage ends, it will be automatically used for health regeneration, but other effects will not carry over. If the same Hero is deployed for stage two, it will start with its ability charged up to level 1.
Damage and Stars
- Damage calculation in the first stage functions identically to that of the Home Village and Clan Capital; one star is earned for 50%, another for destroying the Builder Hall, and the third for achieving 100%.
- If the Builder Base has two stages, an additional three more stars are available, for a total of six stars within a single attack. The damage counter within the second stage will range from 100% to a maximum of 200% (upon completely destroying the second stage).
- One star is earned upon destroying O.T.T.O's Outpost, the central building of stage two;
- Two stars are earned upon achieving 150% and 200% destruction, respectively. Since destroying O.T.T.O's Outpost is necessary to achieve 200%, one cannot achieve more than four stars without destroying O.T.T.O's Outpost.
- The damage percentage is calculated individually for each stage (with the second stage adding 100% on top of its damage percentage), so buildings on different stages may be worth different amounts of percent, depending on how many buildings are on the stage it is on.
Trophy Distribution
- The number of trophies available in an attack is fixed, regardless of the trophy count of both attacker and defender (though it may be potentially limited by the number of stages the defender has).
- The number of trophies won by the attacker depends on the result in a system similar to Legend League, with the number of stars earned being the most important factor. However, both the attacker and defender will gain and lose trophies depending on their own Builder Hall levels. At lower trophy counts, the defender may lose fewer trophies.
- The trophy rewards (without accounting for reduced losses at lower trophy counts) are summarized in the below table. To use this table to determine trophies won in an attack (or lost in a defense):
- Look up the applicable Builder Hall level and number of Stars earned corresponding to the result of the attack;
- For results other than 6 Stars (or 3 Stars, in the case of Builder Hall 5 or below), the trophies may vary depending on the percentage; the full range of possible trophies earned is listed, with the lower number being the minimum number earned. In brackets is the percentage needed to earn an additional trophy within the range: for example, "(5%)" indicates that one trophy is earned for every 5%. Counting starts from the minimum possible damage as determined by the game, which is shown in the second table.
- Example: Suppose a Builder Hall 9 attacker scores a 140% 4-star. They would earn 27 trophies (the minimum for a 4-star at their level), plus one trophy for every 15% they scored past 101% (which would give them another two trophies). This results in the attacker being awarded 29 trophies.

*Note that the maximum damage currently possible on a stage without completely destroying it is 97%, as there are a maximum of 28 buildings on a stage. Thus, the theoretical maximum trophy gains attained at 98% or 99% (or correspondingly, 198% or 199%) is not possible.
Loot in Builder Battles
- Unlike the Home Village, players cannot gain or lose resources by damaging resource buildings in the Builder Base. Instead, the amount of resources earned depends on the result of battles involving them, in particular the number of stars earned in the attack.
- Players earn Builder Gold by scoring Stars on attack; the more Stars they earn, the more Builder Gold they will win.
- On the other hand, players earn Builder Elixir by defending; the less Stars they give up to attackers, the more Builder Elixir they will win. Even if the player concedes the maximum number of Stars however, they will still win some Builder Elixir.
- Builder Elixir won from defense is stored in the player's Elixir Cart, near the entrance of their Builder Base.
Star Bonuses
- Players can win a Star Bonus by scoring Stars on attack. The bonus is generally much larger than the loot won in several battles.
- Star Bonuses in the Builder Base have a number of key differences compared to Star Bonuses in the Home Village:
- The number of Stars required to obtain the Star Bonus varies by league, ranging from seven to twelve stars;
- The Star Bonus is awarded immediately when the requisite number of Stars are earned, as opposed to being deposited in a Treasury or something analogous to it.
- Up to two Star Bonuses can be stacked, with a 22-hour cooldown to obtain a new Star Bonus. In this case, excess Stars earned to complete the first bonus can be used to complete the second bonus.
Builder Base Leagues
- Players enter different leagues based on how many trophies they have. These leagues dictate several aspects of loot:
- The amount of loot earned from Builder Battles, with higher leagues rewarding more;
- The amount of loot won from a Star Bonus, with higher leagues rewarding more;
- The amount of Stars required to win a Star Bonus, with higher leagues requiring more Stars.
- Unlike Leagues in the Home Village, demotion from a league happens immediately upon falling below the trophy threshold; there is no trophy range below this threshold where players can remain in the league. If a defense causes the player to be demoted, loot will be awarded corresponding to the player's original league.
- The end-of-season reset is 5,000 Builder Trophies. Any trophies lost from the reset are added to a player's prestige counter, which is the Builder Base equivalent of Legend Trophies.

- The tutorial battle's opponent is "Master Jimmy" from the Clan "The Order". "The Order" is the very first Clan in the game. Also, this battle counted as a Single Player Campaign level and previously added up to three stars to the "Get those Goblins!" Achievement.
- The player will always win the tutorial battle even if the player manages to get 0% on Master Jimmy's base. Master Jimmy will always score less percentage points than the player and in the case that the player scored 0%, Master Jimmy will also score 0%, yet still lose, unlike how it draws normally. A possible reason behind this is that the win bonus is a part of the tutorial.
- Many players call Trophies 'cups', as it is both easier to say and to type this.
- When viewing the Battle Log, the third win of your loot bonus is marked with three axes.
- You can also get gems from winning a certain number of Builder Battle Trophies through the Champion Builder Achievement. For 200 Builder Battle Trophies you receive 10 gems, for 1,000 Builder Battle Trophies you receive 100 gems, and for 3,000 Builder Battle Trophies you receive 1,000 gems.
- It is impossible for players to have a negative trophy count. However, winning against players with zero Builder Battle Trophies still reward Builder Battle Trophies to the winner, and for players with low amounts of Builder Battle Trophies, the winner gains more Builder Battle Trophies than the loser's loss of Builder Battle Trophies. This adds more total Builder Battle Trophies to the game, causing inflation.
- The Builder Battle mechanic may have been based on both Clash Royale and Clan Wars.
