Many experts agree that turning off auto-brightness should be your first step toward conserving battery power. “To turn off Auto-Brightness, go toSettings> General > Accessibility >DisplayAccommodations > Auto-Brightness, and toggle theswitchto the off position,” Fennell says.
Raise to Wake
This feature can cause your iPhonescreento turn on unnecessarily and drain your battery if your phone is constantly being raised and lowered, Fennell says. To turn off Raise to Wake, go toSettings>Display& Brightness > Raise to Wake, and toggle theswitchto the off position.
Background App Refresh
There are few reasons why you’ll need all of your apps to refresh their content in the background — and this feature is a major drain on your battery because it uses up resources unnecessarily. To turn off Background App Refresh, Fennell says to go toSettings> General > Background App Refresh, and toggle theswitchto the off position.
True Tone
“This feature canadjustthe color temperature of your iPhonescreenbased on the ambient lighting conditions, which can drain your battery by constantly adjusting the color temperature,” Fennell adds. “To turn off True Tone, go toSettings>Display& Brightness > True Tone, and toggle theswitchto the off position.”
Location Services
Creepy and a drain to your battery? Turn it off. “This feature can allow apps to access your location data and drain your battery if too many apps are using it at once,” Fennell says. “To conserve battery life, turn off location access for apps that you don’t use or need location data for by going toSettings> Privacy > Location Services and disabling location access for specific apps.”
You can conserve your iPhone’s battery life and extend your usage times between charges just by turning off these settings, Fennell recommends —and it will take just a few minutes of your time today to get it done.
