Don't Confuse a Search Engine with a Web Browser
A web browser is a software application for accessing and displaying web content. Examples include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Brave, which is known for its privacy focus. Conversely, a search engine searches the web based on keywords, with Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo being popular choices. Browsers present web content, while search engines index and return search results.

Tor or The Onion Router
TOR stands for "The Onion Router." It is a network designed for enabling anonymous communication. The name reflects how Tor layers encryption on data, similar to the layers of an onion, to protect user privacy and allow for secure browsing. It is part of the Tor Project, which includes the Tor network, known for enhancing online privacy and security by routing users' internet traffic through multiple servers. This process obscures users' location and usage from anyone conducting network surveillance or traffic analysis. The Tor Browser is built with the intention of protecting users' personal privacy and freedom online.
