Do gym badges do anything in Pokémon Go? ›

As a reward for your frequent interactions with a Gym, your Badge will earn you bonus items when spinning the Photo Disc. To view your Badges: In Map View, tap your Trainer Profile picture.

1 Answer. Yes, they do. According to Serebii: When the Pokémon are above the level of your current badge level, the catch rate is calculated at 0.8 to the power of each badge you don't have.

Once you have all eight Badges, you can challenge the Elite Four and Champion, a group of some of the toughest Trainers in the game whose Pokémon range in level from 53 to 65.

Once you reach 1,000 Gold Gym Badges, they will start to disappear from your Badge list as you discover more Gyms. Once you spin the photo disk of a Gym that has left your list again, your Gold Badge and its extra rewards will return.

Gyms are locations found throughout the world where you can battle the Pokémon of rival teams. Trainers from opposing teams battle for control of the Gyms. Each Gym has up to six Pokémon assigned to defend it.

Leveling up badges

Trainers will earn the opportunity to receive bonus items and increased rewards from Gyms by raising the level of their Gym Badge. Each tier adds an additional item given by spinning the Gym's Photo Disc.

Inflicting status conditions is another great way to increase the odds of capturing a Pokémon. Not all status conditions contribute equally, though, so be choosy about which you inflict. Pokémon that are asleep or frozen are easier to capture than those that are poisoned, paralyzed, or burned.

Whenever one of the player's Pokémon's stat stages is modified, all of its other badge-boosted stats are multiplied by 1.125 again, even though they were already boosted. (The affected stat is recalculated correctly.) This effect can stack until a stat reaches the maximum of 999.

Celadon City Gym

You will need to dispose of a Cut tree to get to the Gym Leader. As always, see the Enemy Trainers section of this guide for information on the Pokémon you will encounter in this Gym. After you defeat Erika, you will receive the Rainbow Badge as well as TM 21 (Mega Drain).

Best Buddy

CP Boost - While set as your buddy, your Pokémon gains a CP Boost, making it more powerful in Raids, Gym Battles, Team GO Rocket, and Trainer Battles.

Best Buddy (earn 300 hearts together): At this point, your Buddy Pokémon will receive a CP boost whenever it's your buddy. It will also receive a jaunty Best Buddy Ribbon to indicate its status.

Stat boost

In Generations I-III, some badges boost a certain stat or stats of the player's Pokémon. This boost is applied only in internal battles, not link battles. In Generations I and II, the stat or stats are increased by 12.5%; in Generation III, the stat or stats are increased by 10%.

The Defender Bonus refers to free PokéCoins that are earned by leaving your Pokémon at a Gym to defend against challengers from other Teams. The longer your Pokémon is defending the Gym, the more PokéCoins you can earn. Feed your Pokémon treats to restore their CP and extend how long they're defending the Gym.

Once a PokéStop or Gym has been powered up to a new level, it will change its appearance on the map to indicate to you and other Trainers that it has been powered up. Move there to spin the Photo Disc and benefit from the additional bonuses. Note: Not all PokéStops and Gyms are eligible to be powered up.
