How do I find the model number of my iPhone iPad or iPod touch? ›

Find the model number on the upper side of the connector — the side with the display. On an iPhone 7 or earlier, an iPad, or an iPod touch, find the model number on the back of your device.

The model number of your device is located in the Settings app on the "General -> About" screen under "Model".

Identifying by Serial Number

You'll need to know your iPad serial number. Once the serial number is known, it's simply a matter of entering that number into a search which results in showing the status of your iPad's service coverage, and a by-product is that the information also tells you your model automatically.

You can see your device's current or last known location in the Find My app. Tap Devices at the bottom-left side of the screen, then tap the name of the device you want to locate. If the device can be located: It appears on the map so you can see where it is.

Find the serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near the regulatory markings. It's also on the original packaging, next to a barcode label. You can then enter that serial number on the Check Coverage page or Tech Specs page to find your model.

Model and serial numbers are used to identify a specific product. The model number differentiates between models of devices—for example, iPhone® 13 and iPhone X. Many devices can share a model number, which means they're the same model. But every device has its own unique serial number, sometimes abbreviated as S/N.

If the model number starts with M, it was purchased new from Apple. If the model number starts with F, it was refurbished by Apple or a carrier. If the model number starts with P, it was sold as a personalized iPhone with an engraving.

Sign in to iCloud.com/find. Select your iPhone or iPad. If available, the map zooms in on your device's location.

First, find the computer, phone, iPad, or Apple Watch's serial number as specified before, then go to the site checkcoverage.apple.com/coverage. On the site, enter the serial number and captcha and hit "Submit." On the next page, you will see information about the device associated with the serial number.

If you can't use Settings to get your model number, you can find it on your AirPods. The model number is on the first line of the text printed on the underside of each AirPod, or underneath the left cushion of your AirPods Max.
