Cloud backup and recovery: What’s the difference?
Even though backup and recovery are two ends of the same process, there is an important distinction between the two.
To protect an important file, you can make an extra copy and move it onto a flash drive. That's a backup. You may never use that copy, but it’s there just in case. If something goes wrong, you can take your flash drive and use the file you saved. That’s recovery. But people often forget about backups, and recovery can become cumbersome and extremely expensive. People spend thousands of dollars having to pay a ransom for their data or trying to extract some files from a damaged drive.
In other words, you can make backups without recovery. But you cannot recover without a backup.
How to restore your files using cloud backup
NordLocker’s cloud backup protects your files in various situations. Even if we put the digital dangers aside, you may always find yourself in desperate need of a file while you’re away from your computer. Whatever happens, your files stay protected and accessible to you.
If your device gets damaged or attacked by ransomware, the recovery will be easy. Since the backup files are stored in the cloud, your data can be restored from there.
