Engineers Week advocates for a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers. For Engineers Week this year, we wanted to show how civil engineers make a difference in many ways.
How Civil Engineers Improve Our Communities:
- Civil engineers design roads and bridges, planning infrastructure that connects communities, drives economic growth and improves road conditions.
- Civil engineers plan sites for development, working with members of the community, developers, architects and more to create the best possible outcome for projects.
- Civil engineers provide studies and plans for storm water and wastewater infrastructure, improving systems that we use every day.
For Engineers Week, we talked with Aaron Moore, Engineer in Training in our Kansas City office, about his job as a civil engineer. Aaron describes his job and interests, and gives advice for students studying civil engineering or about to enter the workforce.
