Is an AP score of 4 sufficient for Ivy League admissions? (2024)

Hey all, I recently received a score of 4 on one of my AP exams. I know it's not a bad score, but I'm wondering if Ivy League schools might view it as not good enough. Should I be concerned about submitting an AP score of 4? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Congrats on your AP score of 4. While a 5 might be the most sought-after score, a 4 is also considered a strong result and demonstrates substantial understanding of the subject matter. Ivy League institutions value more than just your test scores; they look at the whole applicant, including extracurricular activities, essays, and how you've performed in your coursework.

My child is currently attending an Ivy League school, and they had a mix of 4s and 5s on their AP exams. What was more important in their application was their rigorous course schedule, involvement in various activities, and their unique story. So, while it's great to have high AP scores, remember that they are just one piece of the puzzle. Focus on everything that showcases your strengths and personality, and you'll have a better chance at leaving a good impression on admissions officers. Good luck!
