The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) was established in 1963. The body attained the status of a Chartered Institute in June 1990 through Decree No. 16 (now an Act of the National Assembly) from which it derives the power and responsibility to register members, set parameters of knowledge to acquire to qualify to practise, regulate the practice and development of the PR Profession as well monitor professional conducts through an established Code of Ethics, amongst others. The law stipulates standard academic and professional qualifications required for admission into the Institute.As the sole regulator of Public Relations practice in Nigeria, the Institute is supervised by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

How do I become a member of the Institute?
There are three pathways to membership: Direct Induction, Masterclass, and Professional Examinations
What membership cadre will I receive upon induction?
The Membership Services Committee determines the membership cadre based on your qualifications and experience, however the entry-level for all members inf the Associate Cadre.
How do I advance from one membership level to another?
To upgrade your membership level, you must complete at least three MCPDs, attach the certificates, fill out an upgrade form, and submit it to the Secretariat. Graduate can upgrade after 2 years; Associate after 5 years and Full Member after 10 years
Where is the office located?
Our Headquarters is in Abuja, and we have a Liaison Office in Lagos.
