SANS Internet Storm Center: port 10123
Notes:
Port numbers in computer networking represent communication endpoints. Ports are unsigned 16-bit integers (0-65535) that identify a specific process, or network service. IANA is responsible for internet protocol resources, including the registration of commonly used port numbers for well-known internet services.
Well Known Ports: 0 through 1023.
Registered Ports: 1024 through 49151.
Dynamic/Private : 49152 through 65535.
TCP ports use the Transmission Control Protocol, the most commonly used protocol on the Internet and any TCP/IP network. TCP enables two hosts to establish a connection and exchange streams of data. TCP guarantees delivery of data and that packets will be delivered in the same order in which they were sent. Guaranteed communication/delivery is the key difference between TCP and UDP.
UDP ports use the Datagram Protocol. Like TCP, UDP is used in combination with IP (the Internet Protocol) and facilitates the transmission of datagrams from one computer to applications on another computer, but unlike TCP, UDP is connectionless and does not guarantee reliable communication; it's up to the application that received the message to process any errors and verify correct delivery. UDP is often used with time-sensitive applications, such as audio/video streaming and realtime gaming, where dropping some packets is preferable to waiting for delayed data.
When troubleshooting unknown open ports, it is useful to find exactly what services/processes are listening to them. This can be accomplished in both Windows command prompt and Linux variants using the "netstat -aon" command. We also recommend runnig multiple anti-virus/anti-malware scans to rule out the possibility of active malicious software. For more detailed and personalized help please use our forums.

What port does SMS agent host use? ›
One common issue that users may encounter is that the Tomcat server may crash when the SMS Agent Host service is using the same port (8005) This Port is used by either Tomcat Shutdown server or Connector Port.
What are TCP/UDP ports? ›
Yes, TCP and UDP ports are different, but they sometimes use the same port number. For example, UDP/53 and TCP/53 are both used for DNS, but they are different connection types. TCP ports comply with transmission control protocols, while UDP ports comply with user datagram protocols.
What port does SCCM remote control use? ›
The source could be Configuration Manager console, the destination is client, and we should open TCP Port 2701 on the side of client.
Is SNMP UDP based? ›
SNMP uses UDP as its transport protocol because it has no need for the overhead of TCP. "Reliability" is not required because each request generates a response. If the SNMP application does not receive a response, it simply re-issues the request.
What port is domain UDP? ›
They are udp port 53.
Does SMS use TCP or UDP? ›
Is SMS a TCP or UDP protocol? In short SMS is a TCP protocol. To be more precise SMS refers to the Short Message Service (SMS) that is used to transfer text messages in the mobile network over TCP/IP. the protocol used to transfer SMS messages over the Internet is called SMPP protocol.
What is the SMS agent host service used for? ›
Conclusion. In conclusion, the SMS Agent Host Service is a critical component of the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager that helps organizations manage and deploy software updates to client computers.
What type of network does SMS use? ›
Unlike many services in use today, such as MMS and other data-driven instant messaging services, SMS still works on the fundamental voice rather than the data part of the wireless network. It was initially built for GSM networks but continued to run on CDMA and HSPA in the 3G era, 4G LTE, and even modern 5G networks.
What is the biggest difference between TCP and UDP? ›
TCP is a connection-oriented protocol, whereas UDP is a connectionless protocol. A key difference between TCP and UDP is speed, as TCP is comparatively slower than UDP. Overall, UDP is a much faster, simpler, and efficient protocol, however, retransmission of lost data packets is only possible with TCP.
By default, the following ports are open and listening on BIG-IP external interfaces:
- TCP port 22 (ssh)
- TCP port 53 (dns)
- TCP port 179 (bgp)
- TCP port 443 (https)
- UDP port 53 (dns)
- UDP port 123 (ntp)
- UDP port 161 (snmp)
- UDP port 162 (snmp_trap)
What are the most common UDP services? ›
Numerous key Internet applications use UDP, including: the Domain Name System (DNS), the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), the Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). Voice and video traffic is generally transmitted using UDP.
Which port allows remote access? ›
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a Microsoft proprietary protocol that enables remote connections to other computers, typically over TCP port 3389.
What is the default port for remote management? ›
By default, the Remote Management service listens on port number 5950. You can choose to specify a different port number. Allow Full Control: Enables the administrator to remotely control and also remotely view the managed device. Allow View Only: Enables the user to remotely view the managed device.
What port is used for remote file access? ›
Port 445. Windows uses port 445 for file sharing across the network.
Is SQL Server port TCP or UDP? ›
Ports used by the Database Engine. By default, the typical ports used by SQL Server and associated database engine services are: TCP 1433, 4022, 135, 1434, UDP 1434.
Is nslookup a UDP? ›
Does nslookup use TCP or UDP? By default nslookup using UDP but it can be modify for using TCP by configuration and also if the dns records size more than one single UDP packet. So, the client will decide to resend the query then it will be send by multiple packet of TCP in response.
What UDP port is TFTP? ›
TFTP is a simple protocol for transferring files, implemented on top of the UDP/IP protocols using well-known port number 69.
What port number is LDAP UDP? ›
