How do I fix user Folder Redirection? ›

Roaming User Profiles is used to redirect a user profile to a network location. These features used to be referred to as Intellimirror. Folder Redirection enables users and administrators to redirect the path of a known folder to a new location, manually or by using Group Policy.

Should the objective be to maintain file synchronization across different devices for users, options like OneDrive for cloud storage or SyncThing could be considered. But in my opinion, FSLogix Profile Containers stand out as the preferred solution for enhanced manageability and maintenance.

Typically, when you disconnect from a Remote Desktop session, the redirected drives and folders should be automatically disconnected. If that's not happening, you can try right-click on a redirected drive and select "Disconnect." to manually remove it.

The too many redirects error indicates that your browser is stuck in an infinite redirection loop. That means your browser is trying to visit one URL which points to another URL, which points back to the first URL, so it's stuck.

Fix the Redirects

Edit any URLs with typos or incorrect paths. If the destination page has moved, update the redirect to point to the new URL. Ensure you are using the correct HTTP status codes (e.g., 301 for permanent redirects, 302 for temporary).

Second, a roaming profile is downloaded to the local machine each time you log on, and uploaded to the server each time you log off. A very large profile can cause significant delays in your logon and logoff, can cause network congestion, and can become corrupted.

Roaming profiles were a nice idea in the '00s but there are better solutions now than folder redirection or roaming profiles. Roaming profiles are the oldest option, but they can work with FR. KFM would be the way to go, but if they don't have the licenses, FR will work.

Change your default pop-ups & redirects settings
