Indeed, student success centers are working with community colleges to reframe student success in ways that engage students more holistically and respectfully to promote more equitable results.

Often, the term student success center is used interchangeably with academic success center, learning commons and academic resource center.

Learning centers accommodate different learning domains simultaneously, promoting holistic development. They create an environment where diverse learners can thrive, with materials and activities adapted to varying skill levels.

Learning centers are student centered, engaging activities which are also self-checking and self- selecting. The activities are used to focus on a set of skills and deepen the students' knowledge and abilities in that area. Students can work alone, in pairs, or in small groups.

Successful students attend classes regularly. They are on time. They listen and train themselves to pay attention. If they miss a session, they feel obligated to let the instructor know why before class begins, if possible, and their excuses are legitimate and reasonable.
